This poll is in relation to the new autolock feature of the updated software here at ZP, whereby old threads are closed after a predetermined period of time without a new post.

What are your thoughts?

Didn't Jorge already change it to 6 months? (Referencing "Should All Old Posts Be Closed" post 48). There seems to be about 3 threads right now that are discussing this issue. Personally I agree with Soul, that whatever amount of time you decide it should be from the last post, not view...just because people go back and read old posts for info (like myself), but don't necessarily need to add any new information to that thread.

i think since no one has posted in the thread 3 months at the latest, and 1 month is good... then no people are bringing up dead threads which is annoying

if you are going to autolock I say make it 9 months because a new idiot is born every minute.

Yes, Jorge just changed to 6 months, which seems fine to me considering how rapidly technology, news, etc changes these days.

Just curious about fedback......I like to think we aim to please... :)

I dont like how my pet-project thread (http://www.zeropaid.com/bbs/windows/t-comprehensive-security-guide-by-malakai1911-22434.html) got auto-locked. If someone asks me a question or reccomends a program, I'd like people to have the option to add to it.

At least I can edit it no prob.

I think one year is better. Also we should get delete back if we have over 1k posts and good rep power :-P

There are some threads that should mot be locked at all. Like the above mentioned thread, the small programs thread and my 5th Beatle thread. People will miss this classic comedy.

well now it looks like those threads has had motor oil smeared on their buttholes and given the shaft.

Wanna see some shit?

EVERYONE make your birthday known. Now each day a member has a birthday, create them their special thread.

Next year, when you go to post...WHAT??? I CANNOT WISH THIS GENUINELY-LOVED MEMBER "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" IN THIS 6-PAGE THREAD BECAUSE OF SOME SOFTWARE "YOU'RE-MY-BITCH-NOW" LOCKDOWN FEATURE???

I guess I'll create another thread. Whoa! That's like hundreds of duplicate threads a year.

Know what?

I don't want to merge them.

History has shown that most people who wish to re-celebrate someone's birthday will search for a prior thread and post their praise. A crapload of duplicate B-Day threads a good forum makes not.

Threads were fine the way they were before. I could handle the work. CJ is gone. The upgrade is just a scapegoat.

So a year ought to suffice then right? Sounds ggod to me..........

I don't think CJ would have liked this lock down feature very much.

Anyways, seriously, why lock out old threads at all? Who really benifits? Is this just to keep the admins happy?
