Reservoir Dogs 15th Anniversary DVD… with Gasoline Can Packaging?

Why is it that having one version of a movie on DVD is just never enough? Well, I suppose I know the answer to that question, but it still bothers me when I hear about another redundant DVD release coming down the pipe. Case in point: the new Reservoir Dogs 15th Anniversary Edition DVD. But wait a minute, you ask… wasn’t there a 10th Anniversary Edition released just a few years ago? Well, yes… 5 years ago actually. This time around it will be another 2-disc set, but it will come in a “limited collectible gasoline can packaging”. Man, some of the things these marketing people dream up are getting a little bit ridiculous! I can’t wait to see how that will fit on my shelf (not that I actually plan to have it on my shelf in the first place). The release will be accompanied by a new line of licensed Reservoir Dogs merchandise, including the Reservoir Dogs video game. Ahh.. of course, now it all makes sense! The DVD is expected to hit stores on October 24th, extras are still TBA.

Its nice packages like this that will actually make me buy DVD's. Just like the special Sin City DVD, its the extras that make all the difference between simply downloading or really wanting to own a product because of a nice product. At 15 bucks for a double DVD set its a damn nice price too.

I have to agree. There is an old series called Battlestar Galactica that I used to watch, when they came out with the package where the dvd's were encased in a Silon (the robots on the show for lack of a better terminology) and the price had gone down considerably, we bought it too. I don't think I would buy the same set of something (i.e., Resevoir Dog's for example) a second time though, just because it had a cool new case or a game added.

Another gimmick by the MPAA. They released it on DVD, and then they repackage it and put it out again for the masses who are ready to fork money over to them. Even though the movie is that good. All people are doing is encouraging them to re-release the same shit in a different package. All they have to do is actually release it one time, and at that time make it great. Sin city was released the first time the dvd had no bonus features and no extras.. Two months later they released it with all the jazz. How many copies of movies are they gonna release? 20 year limited edition, release of 25 years of it? Every five years are you gonna buy the same shit?

Actually I have never seen that movie....but I would RENT it before I ever bought it. But if people keep buying the same movies over and over, then yes, the studios are more than happy to release them every few years.

Look at how many Jaws Dvds there are or Star wars...GOOD GRIEF...I could go on for days about that movie franchise! Not to mention how many Star trek DVD's there are.

There really IS a sucker born every minute.
