anyone know if i can use my existing dsl receiver i use for internet access, on my playstation 2, using the usb connection to play online compatible games? i am not sure if my isp supports pppoe, they might, but i have no clue what pppoe is, i do know what ppp is. any help would be appreciated.

What's your ISP's name? I know SBC uses PPPOE so if you use SBC Yahoo! Or just SBC you should be fine......

Kind of hard to explain what PPPOE is....I suck at explaning in every possible way. But it's like a loop back proto for WAN an LAN. I'm sure you can find info about it on goggle.

My ISP is DirecTV broadband, I looked on the website on the customer service page, and they said they do.

Yes you should be able to with the Sony network adapter.. Alot of people who try the USB connectors have alot of connection problems so your better off with the sony connector that plugs into the back.

Actually the Sony Adaptor is mandatory...unless you write your own proprietary software to use a modem going into one of the USB ports. Your best bet is to get a cheap router or another NIC card and crossover cable (although that is a waste of a PCI port)
