In a recent press release Insomniac Games spokesperson Ryan Schneider revealed that upcoming Playstation 3 title “Resistance: Fall of Man” will weigh in at a meaty 22 gigs.

Schneider explained that the size is partially due to textures and the soundtrack, but noted that it’s something that just isn’t possible with HD-DVD’s 15 gig limitation. Resistance is reported to feature 40-player online matches, a ranking system with 60 levels , and gyro utilization with PS3’s Dual Shake controller.

60 levels? Now thats kick ass. I'm so curious to see the extent of the GTA series, esp. since San Andreas was a huge level.

Why not put it on two HD DVD's? Sounds like a load of hype. When will it come out? 2009?

That's a plan, or how about 3 DVDs? Both would probably be cheaper than 1 Bluray right now.

I remember playing the original tomb raider on Play station.. THAT was a long game!!! I think xbox 360 could of trumped the ps3 if they built games that could extract part of the stuff to the hard drive. I have downloaded xbox games, and they take up 2 gigs or less and can extract to just under a dvd5. It been nice to implement such a thing =)

No company will ever make super long games, because then they wouldnt have enough new content to make a bunch of sequals and charge more money. they would rather sell 10 games that have 100 hours of play for $50 each then 1 game with 1000 hours of play for $50

*cough cough* elderscrolls *cough cough*

and the line about HDDVD is bullshit. both formats were created to be video formats anyway. no one is putting games on HDDVD anywhere. oh, and im pretty sure that HDDVDs are only single layer at this stage. BD and HDDVD are going to max out at about the same capasity

i think that it'll be a long time before we say more then a hand-full of games that even come close to 10 gigs let alone 22! so right now there's one! how many games does anyone own that really take up a whole dvd?

also one game that's real long doesn't equal companies making "really long games" it's an exception to a rule

Its not hard to imagine filling up a blueray disk if they have highres videos that arnt compressed, hi res textures that arnt compressed, random other info thats uncompressed. If anything all its dooing is taking advantage of space to improve load times sine it wont have to decompress before loading the info.
