I was wonderin' if any of u peep's could help me wit a little problem I got wit Internet Explorer ?! When I go to a lot of sites most of tha pictures & a buncha little thingz just come up as n "X" & ads just come up as "Action Canceled. Sumtimes if I right click on it & hit show picture it'll work but that's very rare. If I get on AOL everything comes up & I have no problems but I prefer I.E. cuz I can stop from gettin' Pop-Ups which I can't wit AOL. I've also noticed that either browser has stopped re-directin' me for sum reason. Anywayz, any info on how I can fix this would be appreciated, thanx.

something in your settings is stopping you viewing images. open internet explorer and goto tools -> internet options -> programs, then click the reset web settings button. youll get a warning box, then click ok. also check your firewall settings.

have you installed diet kaza or another program that changed your hosts file?that you are getting red x's where ads and pics should be means your hosts file is blocking sites

check it out--c://winsows/system 32/drivers/etc

open it with notepad and look at it-- if there are a bunch of w ww.blahblah.coms in there, then those are the sites you are blocking it'll look like this
localhost 127.0.0.1

127.0.0.1 www.kazaa.com
127.0.0.1 ad.doubleclick.co.uk

...
etc

yeah if your hosts file is f'ed up it doesn't matter which browser you use--all browsers use the hosts file (i do use mozilla rather than ie though)

Yea, Chelle's cam site don't work with Mozilla. LOL Haven't checked it out in ages because I'm sick of IE's bullshit.

If the pictures do come up when you rightclick an select "view picture" then it sounds like AOL is to blame. (Switch over to some other ISP man! There all cheaper and they don't have ad's all over everything. Plus you don't have to use there bloated ass program.)

There shitty service is timing out an giving up on showing you pictures.
If it was a problem/solution with the host file blocking ad severs yall couldn't view them no matter how many times you tried.

Prolly won't fix it but try checking out IE's or gAyOL's net pref's and uncheck that compressed image bullshit.

Since I don't get exactly what your problem is I can't give much more advice on it. Post somemore about what is going wrong.

Edit: Forgive me.....I didn't mean to imply that AOL is an ISP.......it most certainly is NOT an ISP......

Also try the host file on KL.tk see if that helps.

Peace all, Later

What version of windows are you running? It should be in C:\Windows
The exact name is "HOSTS" without the quotes. It's a good idea to replace whatever host file you have with the one from KL.Tk

Here it is.....download it unzip it and place it in C:\Windows\

Also do you have Mozilla? If you don't download it from www.mozilla.org and see if you have the same problem with that.

The hosts file can be a great thing, but it can also be a major pain in the ass. Just recently I was wondering why I could not enter any lobbies on zone.com to play people in Age of Empires 2. It kept telling me that the page was not fully loaded.

I spent a couple hours looking up info on it, trying different thing, and reinstalling all of the software to no avail. I then thought of the hosts file and (in a fit of anger) emptied it completely.

It worked! Now I am going to add some links back (I HATE ADS), but I will look them over first (about 500 of them, so it will be a while).
Oh and in Windows NT and 2000 (not sure about XP) the hosts file is in C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc and in Windows ME/98 it is in C:\Windows.

If you cannot find it then go to Start -> Search -> For Files And Folders -> and type in hosts. Once you find it then right click and Open With Notepad. Then from there edit the addresses in there.

Good luck.

Hi !
I don't think that the host file has something to do with loading images... The host file only blocks popups (as far as I know)... That might block your popup redirections within AOL...

For your images... you said you were running lot's of IE at the same time... 56k users should not run more than 2 or 3 IE apps at same time since it really slows down your connection and, by default IE stops loading images and scripts so you can surf faster.

You should try running no more than 2 IE windows at the same time... You should get results ;)

Hope that helped.

See you ;)

The host file blocks advertising in just about any form, so if there were a picture for an ad (take for example the zeropaid shirts on this page) and you had that adress in your host file, it would block those pictures

about how many windows are open for IE, try getting "MR Tech Systray", you can set it up to have up to 32 threads, get it at www.mrtech.com/mrsystray.html (http://www.mrtech.com/mrsystray.html)
