Hi there...
I was wondering if anyone knew of any mp3 virus/trojan? I don't mean one that infects mp3 files, but rather one that destroys mp3 files either by deleting them or corrupting them (reducing quality, introducing pops, cracks, etc), I'm just curious cause my mp3's started sounding like s#it recently, mybe it's just me with my paranoias but I' m still curious though... Also I've heard of a site that tries to corrupt/delete mp3's (by using JScrip) but that was a long time ago and I don't even remember the url, I guess it was taken down anyway.

there are ones that rename them and add .vbs to the end (variant of " i love you" virus), but nothing that deencodes them

i suppose one could mess w/ the info and make winamp read them wrong, but then they'd come up blank or garbled

sometimes cracks and pops come from a computer whose resources are running thin--safest statement from a tech perspective, get more RAM (it's soooo cheap!)

There was at one time a trojan that was on the end of MP3 files that would execute if you played it using WMP. I know Microsoft put out a fix for it, so i guess its no risk. As for this trojan and any that may come in the future, your safer using Winamp2 to play MP3s becuase it won't read any non-audio code that might be on there
