Madden 07 killed my Xbox 360!

Today I purchased Madden 07 from Frys electronics in San Diego, with my gamer cap on I drove home at blazing speeds. After removing the annoying security tape, I slipped Madden 07 HOFE.

As the screen displayed all the new graphics of M07, I clicked START to begin my new journey. This is when the trouble started.

The screen froze and checkered lines appeared on the screen. I figured, just reboot and everything should be fine. Well, not really!

After rebooting, I got the red flashing light if Xbox death, as soon as I saw these I knew something wasn't alright and M07 broke my Xbox 360! My system is about 6 months old and no data is stored on the HD except for game data.

It turns out that these flashing red lights indicate hardware failure inside the 360 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/907534).

I went through all the "Things to try" on the Microsoft website, but nothing worked. My Xbox is still dead.

So in closing, be careful because Madden 07 HOFE could kill your Xbox 360.

Oh hell no.......... That's ridiculous - Madden Tuesday is upon us and I hear of this? I was only going to buy the GameCube version, but to hear that is unacceptable.

I want to know how any piece of software is going to break the hardware permanantly.

Thats fucked up I would look into seeing if others are having this problem sorry to hear that perhaps I'll do some digging my self. Wait a sec it wasnt your 360?

is scared for his 360.... my red lights flash sometime....after awhile... when the game pauses after trying to sign in to xbox live and i unplug the modem for the broadband

Just be SURE to let Microsoft know what that game did to your xbox 360 and tell them you want a new xbox 360 if that game destroyed it!

They may say that it is the people who make madden 2007 that needs to reimburse you for your machine or repairs to it, but you need to let them know exactly what went on so that mabye you can keep someone else from going through the same thing. Mabye they can get that game recalled or something, if they find a flaw in the programming.

I don't think Madden 07 broke the 360. every damn game that has come out for the 360 has had someone there to complain about how the game broke their 360. usually it's the 360 that breaks itself.


I have played many of these so called xbox 360 breaking games. no damage done so far. It's most likely something else.


btw, if you're at all worried about this happening to you. Stop stressing over it and play it on another system. I have played it on PSP and PC so far so good so don't trip over this incident if you have other options.


By the way the PC game has totally reworked keyboard and mouse controls. They work great! The PSP game has some awesome controls to.. If anyone has the PSP game, That's where I will play online.

P.S. I don't mean to sound like I am hating on jorge. I just happen to feel like this is one of those murphey's law incidents. Think about it. If the xbox 360 is going to fail, why would it fail when you're not playing a game?

Seeing how a mod chip is on the way of being released, i was gonna start saving to buy one after christmas.. Possibly wait to see if ps3 force the xbox sales price down any. I had madden 97 on the playstation =)

A XBox360 ModChip has ALREADY BEEN RELEASED.

Did a story on thit this morning, check it out................it's selling for 40 bucks.

at my work, we are selling madden '05 for $2 because no one wants it. its hilarious (no one still wants it, even when i pimp it to customers)

I thought MS had stated that they have a way to disable any mod chip through sotware updates? Like some new games would have code built in to fry your mod chip or xbox live would auto update and something. I read a lot about that months ago but i forget stuff

To fry a modchip, you would need a serious amount of current going in it, and i believe that could damage more then the chip, but there are breakers and fuses on it to reduce that. Could be fire hazard too. A modchip could stop it from updating the important stuff and block out access of rewriting or disabling a modchip. Modchip orders are being taken, its not released yet. Im waiting to hear back and waiting to see who else jumps in with a better chip.
