This should be titled, 'omg, omg Omg!'

I just joined a private tracker site and wanted to upload a file to it from a public tracker completely excluding or leaving out the tracker of the private site. I imagine this would be frowned upon by the private site as this way they couldn't keep track of or tabs on your ratio.

Anybody else ever encountered discussion about this?

Say Shawners or soulxtc went crazy and just wanted to get some exposure for their favourite group or band and uploaded publicly tracked file from Demonoid (where passkeys aren't associated with your ratio) and they included 3 other free public trackers without passkeys but did not include oinks announce url are in the torrent they edited from demonoid.

These fella's just want to get some more sources fortheir file on demonoid. Is this okay to do?

the only downside is anything you upload or download from the 'free torrent' doesn't go toward your ratio one way or the other so its basically a 'golden torrent' as it won't increase or decrease your ratio on oink or whatever other private site you decide to try this on.

Thoughts on this please?

You can't upload a torrent to a private site without said private site being the sole tracker in the torrent.

You can try, but the mods will weed it out (and maybe warn or ban you). And you probably won't be able to upload to a private site anyway without you having "uploader" status. This requires a fat upload pipe which normal broadband customers don't have.

You could create your own torrent for the files and upload it and seed it on oink or any other private bt site that allows you to upload

You cant upload it, it will say UPLOAD failed and it looks at the torrent for announce URL and then edits it with user passkeys. Uploading the torrent you download from oink, will have your key.. ITs different then everyone elses. If you upload it to other sites, they have your passkey and if they use the torrent. Your account be disabled. Its a great system they have in place. Just download from PUBLIC site, and recreate the torrent with the right Announce URL and upload it. And seed it out. Make sure to follow the guidlines when doing it. No low byte rate stuff.

So technically I could take all my oink downloads and upload them to public trackers as long as I don't use the original torrent file from oink? To clarify I can take something I downloaded from oink and upload it to a public tracker site but just make a new torrent for it with myself as the sole seeder?

Isn't that like stealing or something to claim credit for other people's work? I believe it was okay to do this in the rules on every private tracker site I've registered to. The only downside is that I lose all those sources of others helping seed it and would have to be the initial seed for it myself.

Its hard seeding with a 40kb/sec upload (cable) and I never thought I'd say that but it is.

Naah, just keep the filename the same. If you got a scene rip from OiNK for example, just leave the group tag on the filename and you are still giving them credit. If it's not a scene rip and it's just someone's personal rip, well, they put it out there for the taking to begin with, so I don't think anyone will have a problem if you upload it elsewhere.

40k ain't that bad for music. At least the first leecher will be able to snatch it in about an hour or 2, and once you're not the only seed, then this is less and less of a problem.
