Downloads Completely Stop at 99% ???

I have no speed problems at all, I can gnaw through a huge file at 150k/s+. The problem is that when it gets to around 99% it just stops. This happens all the time when i download movie files. Then it just sits there for days on end uploading with only 1% remaining. I erase it and start over 1hour later I have 99% of a movie again. Why? How can I correct this? This is frustrating.

(Its probably because your downloading them from public torrent sites, which these days are increasingly plagued with fake torrents or movies that are "capped" so that they can monitor who's out there and doing what.

What I reccomend you do is, first of all, try downloading a simpler and smaller file, like TV show episode, or some cheesy anime. If it completely DLs the file you know its not your client configuration nor you for that matter.

Then, what I would do is try to get on a private tracker site.

I can download TV shows no problem so it must be an issue with capped files on a public tracker. Now here is the next phase of the problem.

I cant download NET Framework Version 2.0 because I am on a network that requires administrative privilages so I cant use tracker checker. I am new to trying to get on a private tracker. Everyone I try is full. For this reason I have no invites to trade.

So my new question is how do I get my first invite so that I can start building my standing and get good ratios and invites to trade. Getting the first one when you dont have one seems to be the problem?

Unfortuantely, aside from begging, you'll merely have to play upon the sympathies of those who have invites to spare. The only other option is to check these sites from time to time or simpley check back here as well. We regularly post when sites are open for registration, which at the prsent time is none that I know of.

In the meantime, in the pursuit of DL'ing movies from public tracker sites, do a bit of legowrk ot determine whether or not its for real.

How?
1. Size: a flics going to be at least 700MB or so, if it's any less chance are its a fake.
2. Comments: Look in the comments section to see what others had to say, as your not only one connected who would have the same problem so they would presumably comment on the nature of the movie, like whether its a fake or even the quality if it isnt.
3. Crews: Try to keep tabs on the regular movie "crews," i.e Maven (the best), subatom, dsf, Kraken, Hookah, etc., these are usually guaranteed to be the real deal, though they are CAMs and thus lesser quality than say a DVD-rip or a screener.

I've never heard of a capped download, that sounds strange. I've had all of the seeds leave before and had to wait, and sometimes never get something (a dead torrent) if he means that.

There must be some way to find out, downloading the info file or images, or the sample video, to see what it says it is.

I've had it happen a couple of times......and really noticedwhat was going on by having Peer Guardian run as usual as an added layer of defense.....

As it got closer and closer to 100% MediaSentry kept popping up like crazy......so a little FYI, might want to consider running PG in addition to a solid firewall, and if running Azureus, PeerSafe as well....can never be too careful.

turn off 'thumbnail view' in explorer...if u are downloading a torrent with a JPG of the cover it will create a thumb.db file in your folder and mess up the hash.

It would seem that anyone who wanted to plant a file for purposes of tracking activity would surely be smart enough to put maven in the name to fool people. For that matter the would be smart enough to work the boards hard enough to build a rep and exchange invites. All this steath seems pointless to me.

I spend most of my time putting in hard work on Stock Market message boards so I have little time left for gaining a reputation here so i have enough posts that people trust me. That seems almost deceitful. I am just being honest. If anyone does have an invite to get me started I would appreciate it. I can trade stock tips lol :). Thats where my expertise lies. I trully appreciate all the help guys. It has cleared up alot.

You merely set it for a given interval, say every hour or so, it runs in your icon tray, and then has a pop up alert that notifies you when the sites you select are open for business.
