Pros:

Innovative design
Tilt sensitive controller
Downloadable classic games

Cons:

Last gen system, Nearly as good as an xbox
Non-conventional controller

Anyway... while the Wii isn't "tech heavy" I think the wierd direction is because Nintendo, as always, has gamers in mind.

Unfortunately, there are gamers, and then there are game buying consumer whores... I want graphics, I want name brands, I want the likenesses of big name celebrities.... and this is really the market that wins out.


It will boil down to a battle between the ps3 and the 360, and a cheaper Wii will get a good chunk of the budget consumer market.

Funny thing is... as sony exhibited, the best technology and the best graphics don't always win... so why price yourself out of the competition now?

I want a PS3, but NOT at the prices they are comming out on the market at first! I will wait a bit and get it at a discounted price. I also want to wait and let people get the "bugs" sorted out. If I need something for a new game, I can just get a XBox 360 for a lot cheaper.

Well you can never expect games to be oustanding when the console debuts. Look at the first PS2 titles to hit the shelves, smugglers run, midnight club etc. These games would be laughed at if released today. Just give it time and the new generation consoles will surely impress.

I love the concept of the Wii controllers, they actually have gamers in mind. I don't know how many times I pulled my console off the shelf because I lifted the controlled a little too much for the game LOL! Sure it would be great craic.

360 for the real games, and Wii because of the price and full backward compatibilty to even Super Mario 1. I need to check 2 boxes.

PS3 and this Blu-Ray scares me. They lost in the betamax format, they might lose in this format too, in which case it could turn into an expensive paperweight DVD-wise if HDDVD wins.

It's still kinda early to tell, but giving up my modded XBOX would require a unit that is close yo being modded (360?) and defnitely has to be cheaper than that supposed $600 PS3 BS.

I am almost on the verge of spreading a campaign to buy PS3 ONLY when MGS4 comes out, because honestly, I see that as the only reason to shell up 600 bucks for a PS3. Well that and the following:

+ Square Enix is infact, making a FF7 remake for the PS3. Sony has found their Halo; I cant imagine the rabid fanboys/girls/whatevers bumrushing to get that, especially after Square Enix recently raped FF7 for all it's worth, and in the process got people who dont play games interested in it. If they remade FF8 for PS3 and of course MGS4, I'd pay a literal grand to have a PS3.

+ the fact that it's obvious they will try and recoup loses for the production of the console for 600 a pop, but come on, I can see by Jan 07 the price going down AT least 50 bucks.

+ I wouldnt mind having another computer, honestly.

of course the Wii is only one paycheck so ill be getting that. super smash bros brawl nukkas.

I'd say about 1/3 of the PS3 cost ($200) is related to Blu-Ray. You'd better be sure that Blu-Ray is going somewhere or else you'll be kicking yourself later.

If Blu-Ray does win out though, then $200 for a Blu-Ray add-on would be a steal and you'd be very happy with your purchase... just too much uncertainty for now...

the latest mag i got said the price will be about £430 ($812) in the UK because we can only get the premium edition!

with a 60GB HD insted of a 20GB and other internet shit thown in,Then its £50 ($94) per game as well!

But im really not that bothered about all the other stuff along as its got a wireless controller and enuff space for game saves im ok

So i'm gunna wait, prob be getting the Wii tho

im about 97% certian that it links into the wiimote and you can even clip the wiimote to the bottom of the pad so you get a controller identical to the PS3's controller. i also know for a fact that it will have GC ports so you can use GC controllers for the GC games
