I have a Nec dvd burner and it only burns at 2x i have formated changed ide cables and I know for a fact it is not the burner because it runs correctly in other systems. I have looked all over and apparently I am not the only one with this problem. If anyone knows what causes this and how to resolve it an answer would be greatly appricated so I can tell others and fix my own burner. I am using nero 1gb ram amd64bit and th nec burner thats my setup petty much oh and winxp. Thanks in advance

I have two NEC DVD 16x Burners, one 3540A the other newer 3550A! The older firmware for 3540A will burn most blank DVD disks I have but not with 16X blank DVD disks, the newer firmware for 3550A will not burn any blank DVD disks correctly but only 16x blank DVD disks!
So, see if you update your firmware will make any difference.

Probably a firmware or driver issue.
How fast is supposed to burn?

You have a cable for three devices on same cable? Did your BIO recognizes both burners correctly as DVD drives?

I would change the jumper to CS, and possibly use dvd burning software that optimizes the 64bit performance.
