I know, the "force" in me has been swayed :)..........think rato cheating is BS as it really F's up the system and people lose the incentive to share, BUT, I dont know what I would do without OINK and was contemplating using it from time to time just to keep in their good graces ratio wise.
As the thing with that site, kinda like Pisexy, is that oftentimes its way easier to get stuff than it is to share it. You know u can DL a 70MB album in liek a minuute, but it will take you forever to share it long enough to get that magic 1.0. Sure u can UL stuff but again its gotta be stuff people want yet isnt offered there already.
All in all, Im sure OINk can detect it, their crazy like that. I remember being on their IRC channel(big mistake BTW) and the MOD chick cut me off midsentence, kicked me and then banned me. Was way crazy.

How about this.
Goto start, Run, type "cmd"
then type:
ipconfig /release (Beware you're internet connection will drop after you type this)
then wait about a day (if you type the next command too soon, you'll pick up the same IP again)
ipconfig /renew
Then -bang!- new IP.
Then get a new invite sent to a new webmail address and re-register.

Ishare, but at a place like oink it's difficult to keep a 1:1 ratio because of the restrictions on new peers. So unless you have a 1337 promo release with a track 10.5 that nobody has, it's very hard to keep ratio, even if your trying. Other sights have the same problem, but they don't have bitchy admins that try to kill you with harshitities if you don't keep your ratio, or ban your ip over that. I still wouldn't use a cheater app. I keep a 1.395 ratio over at filemp3 with no problems, and same with stuff from other priv sites, like dididave etc. I kind of wouldn't mind trying again, since I have a fresh IP now, and encryption has come around, so it might be easier. If anyone has a spare invite, fire it to

...and encryption has come around, so it might be easier. RC4 encryption is to get around ISP's efforts to traffic shape BT traffic. It in no way makes you anonymous, etc.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It really isnt as hard to keep a ratio as people say, and man, do I have a shitty upload cap (30kbs).
Just keep your stuff seeding and its all good, plus they've recently changed they're ratio requirements. Anyone that can't keep a 0.3 ratio doesn't deserve to be there anyway IMO.

I didnt believe it, but used it on BITSOUP because i dont download from there and my ratio was already over 1.126. I tried it on a music cd.. It registered me as a seeder having a 100 percent. I didnt download anything, and i set the upload paremeter to go between 50-72kbs. It did that, i think i uploaded 250megs. Without uploading. Im not banned. It will not be banned or detected if you set it up right. Upload speed reasonable, something that has tons of leechers. If your gonna do that, you might as well actually seed. The ratiomaster is setup like any bt client. Might as well just seeding. It sends out fake information that its the latest and greatest BT client. If they did try to ban it,it be impossible. Ban all ABC client users, azuerues, utorrent, bitcomit, as well as others. It tells the tracker that its the actual client. More that are aware of it and uses it, there be a trade off later on when there is actually no thing like a real seed. And when you actually want something, you cant obtain it since people are lieing about their amount there uploading. I can see that later on private sites may implement their on bt client that can be used and secure it from being easily hacked.

Used to increase my ration on a Howrad Stern torrent site, and it did work, so far anyways. It has a feature that allows you to vary the rate from time to time also so that its not a constant stream of uploaded data, a surefire giveaway. You simply select teh parameters, ie max and min upload speeds, you want, select a tracker to attach it to and presto. Thats how its so hard to dtect I presume as it it piggybacks on an actual tracker.
Still afraid to try it with OINk though..............any volunteers? :)

It will work with oink, no one can detect it. Actually the only thing is you got to monitor it. Reporting upload to a torrent with no leeches will get you easily hang. Implementing how much you have uploaded is redundant. Your gonna have to be careful, scripts are written all the time to take care of stuff like this. This is pretty new, i doubt they have a counter measure. And how could they. It registers with the tracker and shows it as the latest and greatest BT client.

I really need to stop assuming everyone knows the same things I know.
What I should have said was if your ISP has static IP's you're screwed. But if you just have dynamic IP's that take a while to get released on the other end by the ISP(it can take hours) after you do the release/renew on yours you can get a new IP immediately by changing the MAC address on your NIC card, then doing the release/renew.
Hope that wasn't too:icon_scra

I scanned through the ratiomaster. A hidden setting lets you seed/or upload til the leechers reach a number.. Like you can have it set to 0 or 3 where it wont upload if leechers decline, so i guess its gonna be hard to monitor this program. Or fix sites that require ratio. So far it can be very undetectable.

A person doesn't even require it. e.g. work up to a no wait limit (99% of trackers), keep
well away from commenting on the torrents, the forums and the IRC channel and all you have to do is change the trackers URL when downloading. Rather simple indeed.

I'm just being realistic. Whenever someone posts some Rapidshare premium accounts and says "please don't change the passwords, share" , immediately every single password is changed. As far as teaching the NOOBs, I mean the information is out there, so if anything talking about it might hopefully make them think about it a little more and perhaps consider when or if its justified.

You know how everyone shit's their pants when a public torrent site goes down, and then the server records are reviewed?
Now imagine what kind of information "private" sites have on your activity. Imagine a "private" site getting raided while your seeding one of those teeny little pitchfork albums.
And people cried over a few tracks on Kazaa? How about a 100 album torrent?
In fact, you know the "private" sites are going to be targeted, because they are where most of the content elsewhere originates. They might not be the big fish, but they ain't quite guppies either.

I agree, and I do, yet as with anything there are always exceptions to the rule, and as w all know OINK is the exception to everything... :)
So which sites can't detect this RatioMaster thing?
Thats something you'll need to discover for yourself, but again, as is any decision one makes, it must reconcile ones conscience and the situation it finds itself in.
I think to make the brash pattern of simply discontinuing to upload is not only rude and unfair, but also undermines the underpinnings of the very nature of the BT community.
Now having said that, I also find it hard to reconcile the fact that the BT community by in large is also based on the practice of copyright infringement and hence illegal, so to proclaim that there must be honor amongst thieves is likewise difficult to defend.

Well, the major flaw in your argument is the fact that you'd have to have stuff that a) people want and b) isn't already available for upload on the site. Not always an easy proposition if you dont want to resort to scrolling throught the endless pile of requests for random stuff.
Even a "dead guy" would have to have music that people wanted to download in sufficient numbers to equalize the level of stuff that one wants to download for themselves.

My first two dl's from Oink, I seeded for something like 4 months, and neither one ever reached a 1:1 ratio. I was locked out within a week.
I got back in... went diggin around in closets and uploaded a couple rips which were good for about a gig... and they pretty much died quickly, and were then removed.
FFS, other people got seeding priority over me on my own uploads.
And, really... I have bought maybe 3 CDs since 1999... even though I owned hundreds.

There was some great discussion about this on the now defunct Asian Dvd Club (their servers were also seized in the Pirate Bay raids and they haven't got theirs back yet...collateral damage).
I wish now that I had saved that discussion...its was basically the same argument users couldn't seed because torrents were too 'well seeded' lol what a problem ay? torrents being too-well seeded as opposed to not seeded enough?
Perhaps I don't really understand the problem with oink here. I think someone from this site gave me an invite there and I signed up and used it to browse what they had there but saw nothing of interest to me. I signed up there because I had seen many of you including my pal, Shawners rave about this place.
Anyway I logged back in or tried to and found my account deleted from inactivity...no big deal as I didn't really care about being a member there in the first place but I was going to check to see if it waa possible to ration cheat there for soulxtc.
On AsianDvdClub it was possible and I had seen many do it...what people would do is open an account...download as much as they could without seeding until that account got closed then make a new one.
The problem with doing this on oink is that you need an invite now from another member to even get an account there and if you screw around with leeching (not seeding back 1:1 ratio on all torrents you grab) or ratio cheating (deliberately entering a false count) you also screw the person who invited you as they get penalised because of your actions..that's why I'm against even trying to cheat on oink because you screw the person who invited you.

Is that true? If I seed one torrent 10:1, I would expect to get away with a couple hit-and-runs on other torrents...

I never hit and run. What is annoying is having to seed something forever to get it to 1:1. Been seeding a particular file for like 3 weeks now and still at "0.65." In many ways its like a crazy pyramid scheme waiting for those below u to take it off your hands.
I agree with EC also, many times it seems that theres a weird priority system set up, as once when uploaded a 10Gb collection of mash ups, after it completed seeding one guy in entirety, my upload speed dropped to like 5kb/s, even with like 4 other leechers, and his zoomed up to max speed. Go figure.

Intersting notion, I like the idea. considering MP3's at a what, 312 bitrate are compressed to a tenth the size of a WAV or FLAC file, would be good way to get that bastard ratio up. Could never gigure out why people had FLAC files up there in the first place, maybe this is a large reason why.

Actually people are finding and discovering the joys of downloading flac. People burn the cd, its lossless.. Put it in a safe place, burn a couple more for the car and house. Or archive on DVD-r with others or on their hard drives. I got 2 people who snatched a flac album from me, its a band from the 80's, two cd's. Totaled over 1 gig. I got two gigs uploaded. People keep outdoing others for ratio, and it makes the site more competitive. . A scene group release a cd 1-2 weeks at 220 vbr, or v0, then its members get a hold of it within a few days before being sold in the states. Usually Japan or UK, and rip it at 256, 320cbr, and then flac. They sometimes get hold of cd's with bonus tracks so it makes the album more tangible. You honestly never need this program. If your suffering from wait times, or lack of intrest. Just re-rip something in flac and you can get a few more takers. Programs like this will end up getting all your favorite bit torrent clients banned. It resembles the clients and list them on the tracker. Look through the request section sometimes, if you got a lot of a great artist on there.. Do searches, daily stuff is being requested.

You can also upload ebooks, software and shit. A person on oink. Wont mention names, got a letter the other day by using Torrentspy. Here is a few of his postings.
"
My isp sent me a letter saying that i am going to be prosecuted for pirating copyright material over the internet via p2p.
i must cease all illegal activity now and even then im still at risk of being prosecuted.
the letter was from an attorney on behalf of the RIAA
i ran utorrent and i have used torrentspy on occasion for relatively popular files.. i am also on demonoid but rarely use it. 95% of my downloads have been from oink.
i searched around a bit and found out about what big red had mentioned..
i guess they send a subpoena threatening the suspected infringer.. i guess you would call it and use it to scare. they occasionally get some money out of it but it seems that they are just trying to get a bunch of p2p users to panic..
i was talking to my dad, (the one whom the letter was addressed to) and in the letter it stated the exact moment in time where the illegal act took place.. that isnt an indication of something more than one of those subpoenas that the riaa is employing is it? i would think that information would be on hand of my isp regardless of what file is being transferred...
if anyone has gotten one of these letters i would greatly appreciate it if you explained what yours said. i am yet to view the letter myself. my dad did his best to paraphrase it.. hes a little pissed so i dont know if some of the stuff hes saying is completely valid. i will get the letter tomorrow.
anyone with ideas, suggestions, etc. please dont hesitate to give input. thanks
my isp is adelphia"
How do you rip in flac? and can I play a flac cd in my car?
Here are some links.. People sometimes store FLAC albums on their cd's as data, but mostly they have it uncompressed and burnt using software that can burn the albums. Some software wont let you compress and decompress flac.

Nah... this thread ain't that bad.
I might get all crochety about things here and there, but I have no anger for anyone. The Oink system just frustrates me.
And, no... I wouldn't ratio cheat. I just don't have much to do with oink, as it takes 4 years to seed a 4mb file to a 1:1 ratio, and I'm not going to "work" (rip music I don't have) to up it. If I have to work to steal something, why don't I just cut down to a cheaper 'net service, and start buying (used) CD's again? So... I continue to upload files, being the 197th seeder in line, getting a blazing 2.2kb speed on a 15gb file. Oh the joys of this modern "contribute to the network" filesharing.

I totally agree. As far as ratio cheating, am keeping it as a "nuclear option." :)

You know what you do. Oink has a system in place, called Similar Artist. You have a torrent you uploaded, and say its The Fray.. You look at some other artist and notice the sound is some what similar or think others who downloaded a particular album may like your "The Fray" upload. You enter it, and people will see it on that torrent page and be able to check out your group that you uploaded. Like Aerosmith, you may upload a bon jovi cd and post it as similar to aerosmith. It takes 20 minutes to rip an album in flac. EAC creates the log/cue/m3u/album in exact track listings, and all you do is make torrent, post track names on it, and upload it. Its simple =)

How about an invite then? Yeah no prob, PM me if you're serious. I've invited a few of my mate's who turned into leecher's and were subsequently banned.
It was no skin off my nose, or more importantly, my ratio.

really sleepy right now soul...just woke up and surprised by the honesty in your answer. I was having a little fun with you (my cruel side coming out I guess) but seeing this response reminds me of how its no one fun to feel this way...so I'm sorry for making you feel this way.
I think everyone is tired of hearing about me and the Mvix by now but at any rate I'm enjoying this so much. People find it funny when I mix my core beliefs with filesharing: God and KaZaA and think I am joking when I say I love these two things.
You know its very funny...something was funny...anyway at this present time in my life I am finding myself SO BLESSED according to my belief in God that I'm getting rewards like this Mvix player.
I remember having thought about wanting something like this but never knowing a thing like this existed...I said to myself I wish there was something or somehow some way to watch the things I've downloaded to my pc on my tv and now thanks to you and this contest I now have and know the way.
There is a saying that goes 'If you can see it you can be it' which boils down to you can have or achieve anything that you believe you can have or accomplish. I envisioned having this Mvix player much like I envisioned having the desk job that I now have. I saw it in my mind first.
This is a great time in my life where I am achieving my goals and prospering. I call this my seven years of feasting as I've just had seven years of famine.
Anyway I remember an old thread I made about when I lost cable and went back to dailup and how I was shunned by the elite p2p world of irc/dc and now I'm regaining the respect of my peers.
I'm also having fun filling that 300gig hdd up in the mvix player. Having the mvix player and cable internet has changed my life for the better (?) I think. Maybe I need to rethink that...but it has been a lot of fun for me being able to get and play anything I want from the internet.
I've mostly been using the mvix like a backup external drive. I've got it set to receive on my files from newsgroups, emule and BT.
I love having the room to share on it and so far have not experienced any problems with it dying on me.
Oh yeah one other thing...posting on messageboards like this one has always been a bit surreal to me. Even when I get things like this mvix player from real people like you, Jared...its almost still like it comes out of the 'ether'.....something magic to me.
It comes from a place I do not see and know...kind of a magic the way a human being comes into the world from nothing and then leaves and goes back to knowing and our life and time here is like a parenthesis in eternity.

From a moderator of such a popular forum, I expected a greater degree of professionalism than 'dude you're retarded'. I'm surprised that you seem unaware of the fact that personal insults and flames do nothing to support your argument and that you represent this site and others are expected to follow your example.
However, whilst ignoring your flames, personal insults, cries of 'moron', spelling mistakes and grammatical errors i'd just like to point out that
If yer bitter about completeing your DL then stay off the public tracker sites, case closed."
you actually mean private sites, even though you repeated 'public' twice.
I'm just a little concerned that as your argument is flimsy, your defence childish and your facts just plain wrong, i'm wondering if you know anything about this subject at all.
First cheating the MPAA and the RIAA and now cheating fellow file-sharers and file-sharing sites.
Nice work. You must be very proud

amen, plus considering that DOWNLOADING COPYRIGHTED MEDIA FILES IS ILLEGAL in the first place, I think it's hilarious that one would take umbrage about "getting ahead" if all else fails. And again, I upload plenty. Demonoid, 170GB UP, 150 GB DL.
