Since DHT takse up some bandwidth, I dont' wanna enable it al lthe time, only when I need to. Will someone agree with me on this?
For the purpose of downloading, should I enable DHT whenever a torrent file has one more trackers that is inaccessible, unconnectable or reported as tracker down? Disalbe DHT when all trackers (in the torrent file) are active and up and runing and connectable?

I don't really notice it using up much bandwidth. But with Azureus you can tell it to only search on the DHT when the tracker is down, so it might save some bandwidth by not sending searches, but unless you really have to watch the bandwidth using the DHT all the time is no real issue IMO.

So we agree to disagree. It doesn't take much bandwidth like u said but it does take some bandwidth as i said before. Go HERE (http://www.numion.com/Stopwatch/) to test to see if DHT affects your loading time. Just enter in a website/page of your choice, preferably a webpage that normally loads a lot of stuff, and make sure you empty out the cache or just bypass the cache by holding down CTRL (IE) or SHIFT (Firefox) + reload. Youll see yourself DHT does take bandwidth, even noticable. and I don't use azeureus I use uTorrent.so i have to manually enable DHT whenver a tracker is down. But I rarely d/l torrents that have inactive/down trackers. :p
