Ok I got this to work a while ago by downloading some DLL files and putting them in firefox but not that won't work after i have reformatted.
I reformatted with PeerWeb XP Turbo .v4 DVD and it runs great. I am using the newest K-Lite Codec Pack and have Quicktime altnernative installed and Windows media player Lite (WMP9 or 10 did not come with the OS).

When i go to pages with WMV videos or XViD AVI's i get a firefox plugin error.

But the page and multimedia work fine in IE.

is there a quickfix? Here are some screens

have you try uninstall FF and then reinstall?

then after you reinstall try to get some idea here

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/

https://addons.mozilla.org/search.php?app=firefox&appfilter=firefox&sort=downloads

https://addons.mozilla.org/search.php?app=firefox&appfilter=firefox&sort=rating

https://addons.mozilla.org/search.php?app=firefox&appfilter=firefox&sort=newest

reinstalling ahead the Plug-ins (most important), you will get no problem, same as me using OPERa
i installed the plugins ahead

*This will fix your Divx and Xvid problems. :icon_tong

The DivX Web Player (formerly known as the DivX Browser Plug-In Beta) lets anyone embed high quality DivX videos in their web pages or blogs without using special streaming servers or installing server-side software. Video plays live inside the browser or full-screen while it downloads!

This is the final 1.0 version for Windows and for the Mac (PowerPC). A universal binary for the Mac and a Linux version are still in development and will be available soon.

On Windows, all of the following browsers are supported:
Internet Explorer (5.0 and above)
Firefox (1.0 and above)
Mozilla (1.7 and above)
Netscape (8.0 and above)
Opera (8.0 and above)

Download it here: http://download.divx.com/player/DivXWebPlayerInstaller.exe

OK, now for the WMV Problem:

Go to this Full Step-By-Step Guide: Embedded Windows Media in Firefox
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=206213
Everyhthing you need is there and the instructions are easy to follow.

****Note, Remove VLC, the plugin will conflict with playing the Windows files within FF.

Good Luck, this should fix you up. *smiles*
