Help:how to "embed" subs while playing movie in VL

I have been able to load subs thru file->open menu in VLC player,and it is working great.

Can anyone help me with foll 2 questions:

1.Is there a way to "save" this setting so that everytime I want to play the same movie the subs load automatically instead of me manually loading them thru the file->open menu.


2.Now,how to permanently "etch" the subs in the movie,so that I can burn the movie onto a CD conviniently,instead of burning the subs file separately.(I plan to burn as a "Data Disc" rather than a VCD.)

I googled and got this...

There's 2 approaches. Burn the subs permanently into the output video, or encode them as selectable subs in your DVD. If the input video type is supported you can do it either way with TMPGEnc Plus (http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_tools/tmpgenc.cfm) and VobSub (http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/subtitle_tools/vobsub.cfm). For a guide, google on "DvdAuthorGui guide" and you should get a step by step how to encode and author from .AVI (http://www.afterdawn.com/glossary/terms/avi.cfm) to dvd with subtitles and optional menus. Basically if you leave the .srt file in the same folder as the input video, TMPGEnc (http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_tools/tmpgenc.cfm) will pick it up and burn it in. If you want selectable subs, move the file to the folder for the video output files and use DvdAuthorGui to put the subs in when you author the DVD. See guide for the details. Hope this helps you out.
