I've read all those threads about how WinMX is becoming the worst network and stuff like that! WHAT?? WinMX 3.31 is connecting much faster than old versions and the DLs are ok. You people forget that if it wasn't WinMX and Soulseek we couldn't find those rare mp3s that some of us are searching for because we are not Britney listeners you know! And the quality of the files are better than the 128bitrate files in the program called Kazaa or LITE or DIET or whatever. DAMN!

:cross i'm glad you enjoy winmx, but i must agree with many others, winmx's performances have degraded recently, since the 3.31 upgrade d/l speeds suck, search results have nosedive, and i won't even mention the queing problems. if it works for you, that's great, VahallaWarrior

ok the queue is a problem but can't do otherwise but you all have to agree that winMX and Soulseek provide you with the best results (searches). All the little probs are nothing compared to the features it provides. I hate to see people complaining about WinMX. The same thing happened with AG. Everybody complained (well...not everybody) but when it closed we were left with nothing. And again I repeat ... not mainstream.

Umm i have a couple words to say! WINMX KICKS ASS!! screw the ques on the interview of winmx they said they were going to fix the que problems with upcoming versions so can all u people chill. You all know u can find everything on that program. As for now, just click on auto find sources and ull get your stuff. just wait for a new version to come out, (not an upgrade like 3.31), a new version that will fix the ques(maybe not the next one but down the road) and everything will be fine!:devil

I'm a Britney listener, and believe me she has rare remixes, belive it or not she has imports just like other singers do, and her imports ahve rare rare songs on them, cause only so many of the imports are sold. and so they have rare rare remixes on them, some imports sell for over $50.00 sometimes I saw one on ebay for $123.00 one time. but anways I can find these hard to find rare remixes on bLubster and stuff, even though only like 3 results pop up but they still ahve them. and now I like eminem he's my new fav. rapper/singer. and I buy every import that he has.. well almost everyone I'm up to 22eminem, cds. and I sahre all the rare tracks and stuff. and I dunno what you guys think rare is? when I hear rare I think of stuff lke only so many copies of the cd are made, and rare remies that didn't get released to the public but soulseek sucks and winmx is okay but those aren't the only programs that have rare files you need to look a bit harder for better programs i think

...I really don't see what the problem with queues is. When & if I queue a song the wait is never that long and if I'm real impatient I then PM the person and see if they will kick me up the list - which they usually do. Especially if you are civil about it. This program is full of features and gets the rare files with a minimum of problems unlike say Blubster which almost crashed my puter. But that another story.........

when I say rare I mean "Madrid de los Austrias" or "Emperors New Clothes" and stuff like that. No offence man but Britney's or Eminem's imports are not rare!

All things dont work that way, just ask the fellow that is getting the fast and furious from me on phone lines. We should all be that patient.

I've tried WinMX once, but I was a bit too impatient. Since we're talking about performance here, I'm curious to know:
[list=1]
How long does it take to connect to the network(s)?
How long does one need to wait for search results?

For me to make a (secondary) connection to the WinMx network it takes about 4-7 seconds.
For search results it depends. Something popular is almost results. Something rare - considerably longer.

:cross let me ask everyone this. is winmx better now as it was before? not what it may be later on, but right now. the answer is no. and i'm sorry because i really enjoyed it before. i hope it regains it's footing because it has the potential to rock the P2P community. bigwilly

It seems that quite a few (but not all) users have complained about winmx for quite sometime. To emphasise this, i searched for "winmx sucks" ... and got these results:

http://www.zeropaid.com/bbs/search.php?s=&action=showresults&searchid=30825&sortby=lastpost&sortorder=descending&pagenumber=5

44 posts, hundreds of replies, thousands of views. I think that would imply people arent happy. Well, I'd like to remind some of those users about the (maybe slightly harsh) truth which faces them:

1. If you'd used winMX 2.x then you would have noticed that it has come on in leaps and bounds over the last few years. Remeber the days of no multisourcing, when autoretry was a waste of space and there weren't half as many users as there are now?

2. Sometimes you've got to be patient. If you don't get the file you want, keep on trying! If you give up after the first search, then you won't get the satisfaction you would have done if you had been working on getting something for a couple of weeks, and then finally managed it! Trust me, unpacking a rare file, and burning it to CD is very rewarding!

3. At least you didn't have to pay for winmx, I'm sure if you had to pay a small amount and it didn't work, you may have some grounds for an arguement.

4. You are downloading music/videos/appications for free! Some of the stuff available on winMX you can't even buy! And for everything else, there's your local music/video/software store, where you can hand over hard earned money for it! If you don't want to wait for a movie, rent it on DVD, and rip it yourself! Remember, it's saving you £-$-€ !

I think from these points above that complaining as much as some users do about something which they haven't paid for is completely unjustified ... especially when Frontcode are knocked. Let's face it, if they started charging £20 per copy, you really would have something to complain about ...
