DEP driveing me mad

i have no idea were it came from, i think the last windows up-date but i crn`t bloody open either of my hard drives with out DEP closeing them. i 99% there is no virus there cos i have bit defender and i have scaned it. is there a way to tell for definate or just turn DEP off

My Computer > Properties > Advanced > Settings > Data Execution Prevention > Turn on DEP for programs and services except those I select (Simply don't add any programs to the list unless you intend to actually use it)

Plenty, have a look here. I suggest NOD32 myself because it uses little resources but choose yourself...
