playing wmv on an intel mac

What program do you use to play wmv on a Mac? I am new to Macs, and was told VLC would play everything...but apparentlly it does not.

I've also heard of a program called flip4mac, but the website indicates it does not support Intel Macs yet. It also seems this program requires purchasing.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

install Xwindows and kde and run mplayer maybe ?
there maybe a mplayer for OSX not sure
but i know you can install kde on there and have OSX running underneath
i saw someone doing it on a macbook last night
