They depreciate like a stone so if you buy a new one now, in 5 years it will be worth half its original price.

I like Alfa's too. My Dad has had at least 4 in his lifetime and I've taken many for a ride.
The venerable Alfa 164 had me up to 80mph in 2nd gear... awesome. And the Spider's are super classy...

If you live in the US you can't buy a new one right now, but if you're planning on buying used I hope you ahve someone who can work on them and get parts. That's all I'm warning you about, if something goes wrong, not a lot of people know how to work on them or get parts, and it will be expensive.

If you live in Europe or somewhere where Alfa dealers are prevalent, go for it.

Seriously, it's amazing how fast cars are depreciating. I think the used car market (in the US atleast, I don't know about other countries) should be included in the definition in the term "saturated market" as defined in the dictionary. I'll bet there are more cars in America than Americans! We've got a 1990 champagne colored Mercedez, in great condition, rebuilt engine, just a really nice car, good tranny, doesn't burn oil or leak anything and we practically can't give it away. It'll still go another 150,000 miles atleast before any major work, if any, and we might be able to get $1500 if we get a good buyer. That's like a two week pay check! Let's not even talk about American cars. Japanese cars are the only thing that don't drop like rocks on the depreciation table. In fact, I'll bet a Tercel of the same year would probably sell for about as much. I mean, you can't even get a 7 year old Toyota or Honda minivan for less than ten grand. It also depends on how well the car was made to begin with obviously. One thing I've noticed people dont do is choose their cars well. ie getting a car that will depreciate faster than they can make payments on it. I know a girl that got some super expensive SUV, I forget the brand, but at this point, she can't even afford to make payments, and even if she sold it, she couldn't pay off what she owes! Basically she's been paying $200 a month for nothing because now they are reposessing it and leaving her with nothing. She's living at her parents working full time! That's what's wrong with America today, people just don't use their brain when they buy things. She's been working full time for 6 or 7 years now and making payments on cars. She would have been better off not working, saving all of the $100 a month for insurance, $150 for gas, and $200 payments and then she not only wouldn't have had to work, but she would have ruined her credit. Now she's engaged and she's gonna dump all of these financial burdens on her spouse including all of her maxed out credit cards that she has bought all of the latest fashion in clothes and makeup and hair dos. I pitty the guy...

Anyway, be very careful is about right. Someday car companies are going to realize that when they make crappy cars, they won't sell, but until people stop wasting money on cars that depreciate like a rock, that some day will never come. Well, that's my 2 cents...LOL

Full of shit. Im buying Trump Plaza with the stack I saved from downloading stuff for free. Any one heard anything bad about the building (besides Rich Little)?

and also, all cars lose value but if you own a classic car they go up and up and up! Im looking to buy a classic car later this year if I can save up enough money. Im thinking of either a GTO or maybe 69 firebird. Yeah I like Pontiacs

A Tempest is high on my list too. I hope I can find one I can afford and work on it myself http://pics.hoobly.com/full/edf145d9c98b345631940086832b016a.jpg

Ahh the good ol' days, back in the 70's when gas was "expensive" LOL.
