What OS do you use?

You have to have XP with Service Pack 2 or Media "Center" edition 2005

Is it worth downloading? Or will I just get pissed, cause I have to reboot my pc every 10 mins while watching a movie?

I've not had any issues with using it, though this isn't a public Beta so you're sure to have some errors ...

What I like about this new Windows Media Player 11:
Better looking interface, better display of your library and starts up more quicker.

What I don't like:
Has an intergraded Urge Music store http://www.urge.com similar to iTunes.
Can't change the color, you only get default black.

But so far no errors.

So how does it perform? Does it stop you from playing any media because of DRM? That is why I generally don't trust windows media player. I use other players instead.

But if you guys are not having any problems, I may give it a try.

Haven't encountered any problems yet. I'd even say, it runs smoother than WMP 10!

Download a better version, mine never asks me for anything. Maybe try turning off automatic update but its probably too late for that.

I will not download any new WMP, I just don't trust MS with my media. They can always update some shit and screw you up. Besides why the hell do I need a new player? I don't. I have MPC which with the right plug in's will play anything and also VLC which is also awsome. Both are enough for me with out taking a chance MS will decide to add some hidden bullshit to my PC.

I sill have WMP 9 and will stick with it. It has none of the DRM crap of 10. I have a Seagate 180G external hardrive that I keep all my media on so things run rather smooth with the 9 Player.
Besides I never did redownload SP2 after my first attempt ended with a crash, and a complete reformat of my computer.

On a side note, the Seagate 180G external hardrive only cost me $90. All I had to do was hook it to a USB port and BINGO, it installed it self and it was up and running in less then a minute.
My internal 80G drive went from 39% free space to 85% after I moved all my media files to the Seagate. The whole system runs alot faster, and it is a damn site easier and faster doing a defrag and other system clean ups with out the internal drive being cluttered up with all the media files.

Winamp still kicks ass...I love the streams and the easy of it, the plugins, etc, far more customizable then media slayer.

BTW I downloaded 11 from Microsoft and I by far dont have a 'good' copy of XP, but it downloaded fine. Yes I do have automatic updates off, Im done with updates from MS. Fx site works fine.

WMP11 is beauty!
iTunes only has one advantage, it find all my music (13,000 Songs) while WMP only finds 9000
