I downloaded a few bitmap images and windows paint won't open them it says in the box that pops up:
F:\my images\1.BMP
paint cannot read this file.
This is not a valid bitmap file,or its format is not currently supported.
So i put the file in my shared folder (kazaalite)and tried to view it through there in the my kazaa section. When its just highlighted it shows the pic as a thumbnail but when double clicked on to view full size,it's a no go again.Could someone please tell me of a small free image viewer that will display all formats of images please.
All comments and advice much appreciated.

Yes you might try that program, but you might also try Paint Shop Pro, the new one, it works like a dream for me, but if you prefer a "real dream" try Macromedia, although it does cost more.

paint shop pro is a hefty download just for viewing a few images. try irfanview , www.irfanview.com, it can open most things image related.

oh and its free.

I use PSP 4......it's pretty small - around 6 meg's an it works like a dream.......

BTW that error your getting seems to happen with everyone.....think it's some stupid ass call in the reg that doesn't look at the dir you double clicked the file in so it checks the same dir that paint is it.....just a guess though. Since paint seems to work fine if you open a bmp from it.....same with a few other micro suck programs. Infran view is tight though. So get that.

Peace all, Later
