after installing a nero package on my computer to burn dvds, a program called nero showtime come with it and when i installed the main nero suite to my pc, nero showtime was automatically installed with it; and now it acts as my default media player instead of windows media etc, but i dont want it to be my default media player and i wondored whether anyone knows how to change it and make it so its not my default media player for opening files with???

You could:
A) Uninstall everything having to do with Nero, then reinstall it using the "custom installation" option, thereby giving you the option of which apps to install from the suite. I always opt out of installing Showtime for the very reason you're describing.
B) Maually change the application preferences by going to Start --> Control Panel --> Folder Options --> File Types. You may have to do this anyway. In which case you can:
1) Smash yourself in the face with a hammer out of frustration.
2) Smash your computer with a hammer (or your face if you have zeal) out of frustration.
3) Screw that computer shit and grab your abacus.
C) Say hi to your mom for me.

hi, you could right click the file, open with/choose program and a window will open, click on media player and then check the box on the bottom left, everything should be fine
