You want lax drug laws, go to Holland.

Well if you hung out around my school you'd think there weren't any laws at all.

When I was a toker I didn't worry so much about the law but about how much THC was in my Pee.

Pretty much. Honestly, if the shit were legal and didn't interfere with employment status, I'd light one up right now.

However, I enjoy having the ability to pay the bills.

In fact it is illegal. In fact no one cares that it's illegal except for concert security. I've seen a great many concerts at the Commador, Vancouver (and various other small room theaters), the security there is more strict then the police. Getting kicked out of the last "Tea Party" concert I saw for a toke became especially saddening, now that I've learned the greatest Canadian band ever has broken up.

Haha speaking of concerts the Robert Plant concert at Save-On Foods Memorial here in Victoria was just one big drug fest according to my friend who went. People where doing anything and everything. I think security just gave up.

The last drug test I failed (or passed depends how you look at it) I was tested for 5 substances.

THC, Cocaine, Amphetamines, PCP, and Opiates.

Got 3 out of 5, since I hate dust and shooting horsey always made me puke.

Strange, last drug test I had was about 8 days after my 30th birthday party. I have no Idea what drugs I may have taken because I was too drugged out to remember. Regardless I passed with flying red, white, and blue colors as not even THC was present despite vague recollections of smoking it 8 days prior.

Most drug testing for THC cuts off at 50 nanograms and If you are an irregular smoker who has very little body fat then you passed most of the metabolites in a matter of a couple of days.

The same holds true for meth and cocaine which takes on average 48 hours to pass.

Holy shit you've really studied this. True I rarely use drugs and I am not overweight but despite knowing the odds I was still sweating when the technician was watching me take a piss. I had almost 10 years vested with only 6 months to the end of my contract and a positive test to anything would certainly have complicated things.

I know I did.

Gallons of piss later, after losing my loves, my liberty, and almost my life, I finally learned that the only way to beat it was to get out of the game.

As of March 8th, Clean and Sober 7 years now.

I truly understand the pride you feel when you can say "7 years now". I wish I could say the same.

I am not a drug addict and never have been. That's not to say I haven’t tried them. I've tried everything but "H" and my worst demon is not drugs but the legal one you get when you turn 21. Fortunately you cannot be tested for "A" which is why I will be officially retired 10 weeks 2 days from now.

I tried AA voluntarily but apparently you must believe in a higher power to get past step one. They wouldn't accept the “tides of fate” as a higher power so I guess step 12 was an apparition at best, at least for me.

Just to clarify...

B.C. has the exact same drug laws as everywhere else in Canada because the power to regulate criminal offences is a federal right under s.91 of the constitution. [POGG]

BTW, as much as I dislike Harper he hasn't changed the law. The law remains the same. It was his predecessors who were trying to decriminalize marijuana.

And just like a drug, the purer it is, the better it is.

There may be weed bars here, but if so, they're all underground. I have never seen one, but I *AM* just a bit square.

Pot laws should be reviewed, as it's plain stupid to put people in jail for smoking it. The jails are full of people like this and at the tax payers expense. IMHO, alcohol causes far more injury each day than the average pot smoker.

cjules13
April 27th, 2006, 08:33 AM
Oh hell yeah, alcohol is waaaay more dangerous than pot. It's kind of hard to figure out why it is the way it is... It's just been grouped with the hard drugs so long the lawmakers can't seem to distinguish it from heroin - which deserves to be illegal.

So I guess the only place to legally buy the good stuff is Holland. That's too bad, I wanted to swing by Vancouver one of these years for a nice relaxing vacation... Real relaxing :icon_comp

No...not the way you think.
We have smoke easy's, I used to work as doorman to one DT Van.
It's completely illegal and what happens is you start small and you set up a few tables.
and have buddy at the main table or another room sell the shit to the customer and then
you can chill out and listen to music and be social.

As word of mouth spreads you make more money and you get more attention
then after you are making money and you have a good customer base you get busted
because you drew to much attention to yourself and your little venture

The guy who runs the operation gets massive trafficing charge because in canada as some other countries,
selling illicet drugs is illegal. His helpers and "staff" get slapped with minor possesion charges and maybe intent to distribute.

You can smoke a joint in a park and nobody will give much of a shit, on the beach
(well on the right beaches, its up to you to determine as some beaches are full of familes.)
you can do the same. If you are caught with anything under a quarter it is personal
and you will get it taken away (probably to be smoked by the cop after hours)

Selling drugs will get you a record and a kick in the ass.

Now the weird parallel dimension to our culture of tolerance is there are legitimate
head shops that also have cafe's where you can smoke your dope, eat some food and hang out and
talk spaced out enlightened nonsense to as many people as you want. The Amsterdam Cafe is one.
The cops leave these places alone because there is NO selling...
just rec use and they have better things to do then bust someone for 2 grams and the munchies.

If you do get cauight selling in the legit ones you will get tossed out at the least.

There is a famous pot buffet in vancouver where they cook everything with dope, you have to ask around
and the chick who runs it is Cherise (lol she has a lazy eye, you can't miss her and she hangs with Emery)

There is a high percentage of Canadians who admit to smoking pot.
just think of the paranoid ones who dont fess up (its around 44% I think for the ones who admit to smoking)

So it is a mix...yes it is pot friendly here but you can't be ignorant and flaunt the shit out of it and sell it.
Its not some amazing drug haven up here, its a very mellow attitude and acceptance
provided you dont be an ass about it and you keep conscious of what is stepping over the line.

If alcohol make you paranoid like pot, you be less likely to stay off the road. POT is illegal and most people dont want that kind of criminal charge on their record or too paranoid to go out of the front door. If more people were getting high like getting drunk, there be deaths on the roads.

Mels_Smileys45
April 27th, 2006, 07:25 PM
I doubt there be death on the roads if pot was legal. Mostly because it doesnt impair your motor skills. It will make people make bad judgement calls though, like doing 20mph in a 70mph zone. Its not a good idea for anyone to DUI in any case but legalizing pot wouldnt raise the death rate at all IMO. It could even go down as criminal activity will fall. Putting people in jail for what others believe is a (personal) problem has never made sense to me. Let people smoke a little grass in the privacy of their own home if thats what they want to do.

I smoked pot for years. I stopped some time ago because I like having a good job but my habbit never hurt anyone. It just made me eat a lot and watch a bunch of movies I can't remember.

I remember getting in an accident while toking and driving back in the 70's because a seed popped and caught my shirt on fire.

Now that I think about it I also remember all of my shirts having seed burns on them and my thumb and index finger callused and permanently covered in resin too.

and also banned. I wonder why?

I had burn holes in my shirts, pants, car seats, my home carpet and just about everywhere you can imagine. Reminds me of the Big Lebowski scene where he's driving and toking and the cherry drops in his lap. He has a wreck and puts out the cherry with a beer he was also drinking. The Dude is my personal hero.
