A History of Violence

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0399146/

I recently saw this film for the first time and thought It was really good, easily the best movie of last year I have now seen. I had not heard that much about it nor did I know it was up for 2 Oscars so it caught me a bit by surpise. Have any of you guys seen it and what did you think?

If youve not seen, I highly recomend you pick it up

History of Violence is a great flick. Keeps you interested the whole way... which is the sign of a great movie. Some of the sex scenes I thought were a bit over-acted, but whatever, the core plot is awesome and Viggo's character is well worth watching.

You'll like Hostel too Mels... It's some sick shit but I was satisfied at the end of the movie. Can't recommend it enough for you!

I just saw it too. It was a great movie. I'd give it ***/*****

I also saw Derailed recently, which isn't quite as good, but it was still not a bad flick...just a bit predictable. **/*****

History of Violence is very good. The sex scenes were the only scenes that were not in the graphic novel. Cronenberg put them in the film to show the impact the shooting had on the couples relationship.

Hostel is probably going to be the worst film ive seen this year.

I quite enjoyed Cabin Fever even though it was scary, but i hated Hostel. The characters are so irritating that i wanted them to die......and quickly. Its almost as if Tom Green had directed this movie as its so desperate to shock the audience. The only good thing about Hostel is the cameo by Takashi Miike.

He was the Japanese man with the sunglasses, who came out of the 'building' and talked about spending all his money in there.

I love his movies! Although, this probably means I'm going to hell and being tortured worse than anything in those movies.

Yeah, A history of violence was a good movie. The killing scenes were great. Especially the one in the diner where it shows the guys face after he was shot. You could hear him gagging and dying, damn.... Wait, i think i like that shit too much... ha ha

Fleecy you just made me blow water out of my nose and all over my desk. That's probably the hardest I've laughed all day and I have seen some pretty funny stuff today. I mean it in the best possible way though. :P It cracked me up.

Youir reviews suck! lol

Tell us something good youve seen, not what you got, when you got it, what you did with it or what you saw posted somewhere a long time ago but didn't want to see. Recommend something, it seems like youre just bragging. Come on man, what have you seen that you think we would like to watch too. I don't think anyone cares about a movie sitting on your shelf

My review sucks?? Your wanting to see movies that have been out for while and you state you cant see it yet or its on your list to see next. I said History of Violence was really good, I would of watched it earlier if it didnt have a big time code on it. As far as anything, theres no reason why you cant see Breakfast on Pluto, or Hostel. I mentioned i havent seen the movies because I havent had time and Breakfast on Pluto didnt appeal to me. I read the nfo and saw the IMDB on it. Just not my cup of tea. Heres the plot outline of it. : As foster kid Patrick "Kitten" Braden (Murphy) grows up, he leaves behind his small-town life in Ireland for London, where he's reborn as a transvestite cabaret singer in the 1960s and 70s.

Next movies on my list to see:

Breakfast on Pluto

Hostel (cant wait to see it!

Obviously this is a lie, because it seems you are going to wait to see it, if you cant. You would of gotten it already.

I've been wanting to see that too. Part of the Masters of Horror series... I'd been watching those through episode 8 or so, but they just weren't as good as I was expecting.

I guess the Miike episode is called "Imprint"

I'll give the series one more chance and check that one out....

History Of Violence Was A Good Movie. Altough A Bit Drawn Out And Slow In Some Instances. The Violence Was Great Specially With The Son Kicking That Guys Ass

If you like History Of Violence, you'll definitely like the director's cut of Blackbeard's Ghost, starring Juice Newton and the Tedster himself - Theodore Newton-Barrington.

History of Violins? I'm a brass musician, not a string musician. Where's the history of the baritone, or the tuba, or the goddamned trumpet for god's sake!!!

Actually, I want to see this movie, but I can wait patiently for a while, as it's not a dire need.

Really? I fell asleep before wolf creek could even get started. I snored loudly, too.

I'll try again some day. Though, I have tried 4 times to watch Alone in The Dark.... and fell asleep every time. That movie is so unintentionally craptastic it comatizes me.

I too had high hopes for the series but the first episodes were a bit of a snore. With all the talent they tapped for these shows I was a bit surprised they were so dull, I really wanted to like them, I really did! I miss my Tales from the Crypt and even Tales from the Darkside was better than this series. I'll have to find "Imprint" and see how it turned out.

Anyone else looking forward to "Grind House" as much as I am? Its great that horror is making a comeback with actually good movies instead of that lousy Jason type series that killed horror so many years ago. Still for my money, Japanese will always make better horror because they don't seem to be as restricted and are far more original than Hollywood.

Ok, if you aren't a fan of the game series, or if you haven't played the first 2 games, stay away. Without, you really won't get it, since you don't get the Ultra-mega-super-happy fun time ending.

Yes, Tales from the Crypt and Darkside were both good series. And you would expect the Masters series to be much much better.

Grind House: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0462322/
Looking forward to it immensely. Rob Rodriguez is one of my all time faves now after Sin City.

So I used to get all my Asian Horror fixes from Crazey Mazey's before they went down. Anybody got a new Horror tracker that's decent?

Thanks for the verdict. I was wanting to see it because of the comic series that came out about 2 years ago. Good mini series from IDW.

You should thouroughly enjoy it then. It was probably one of the most faithful video game based movies made so far.

I can't wait to see it. I still have yet to play SH3 and SH4.

I checked out A History of Violence tonight. Great movie.

1- How many people made a Boromir joke about Tom/Joey's brother?

2 - She wasn't a natural blond.
