The best power unit for a INTEL celeron 800Mhz

Hey guys I've just recieved a intel celeron processor and i have no idea which power supply to buy. I was think about getting a 300watt unit. Is this correct also does the differences in amps under +3.3v, +5v etc make a difference?

A quality 300 watt one should be more than enough. Im only running a 250 watt one here with 2 hardrives, a cd rom, and a cd burner, the CPU is a 950 celleron. Ive been running this for years with no problems.

300 would even be a bit overkill, my old 533mhz celery ran just fine for years on a 125 watt emachines powersupply

i would suggest a 200-250W unit unless they are no cheaper than the 300.

The Celeron 800 takes around 23 watts I think. Believe it or not, my HP Pavilion has a 100 watt power supply, plus 1 hard drive and one CD-R.

for power supply advice look for some articles on the internet from Johnnyguru, and they have some good threads over at the [H] forums covering PSUs. What kind of video card are you running on the system? How many drives (optical and hard) will you be running?
Just dropping some good name brands for PSUs.....Antec, Enermax, Fortron(fsp), PC power and cooling. Plan to spend a little more dough on a good PSU if you plan on keeping the system running for a long time to come.

Most of the systems I have seen like that were running a 32 meg video, and the same with audio.

My HP Celeron 800 used shared video memory, probably around 16 megs. I turned off onboard video and put in an old Voodoo 16 meg video card. I also replaced their software modem with a Zoom hardware modem, and added another 128M stick of memory. That made a big difference in getting more speed and power for programs and Xvid movies. It's a nice little tower, the machine I use the most of any of them.
