Alrighty everyone I have a problem with Windows2000 (the only major problem I have had with the OS).
Let me give you a little background on my computer first.
Was a premade Compaq computer (5150WM). I was very nieve at the time and thought it was the best computer on the market. (This was about a year ago). Well after getting rid of EVERYTHING on it (long story) including Windows ME I installed Windows2000.
Well I had no sound at first! Then my friend found the ONLY drivers available for a computer like mine with Win2k @ compaq.com. It is SoundMAX Digital Integrated Audio... and yes I have onboard sound.. no sound card as far as I know.
Ok here is the problem (By the way if there is more information needed just say it and I'll tell you everything about my computer down to the color of the case):
When I boot my computer.. after a bit I notice that I lose sound for games, emulators, basic window sound (like double clicking folders and not hearing that click sound), sound in instant messengers, you get the idea. Well that's not the weirdest part... I DON'T lose sound with WinAmp 2.x. I can listen to music all I want whether the sound has gone out again or not. Oh and to get the sound with the programs back I just have to reboot my PC.
I know the reason why is because I need better, more compatible sound drivers.. but I do not know anywhere else to look as I have searched the compaq site inside and out... I have also searched Google couldn't find anything of what I was looking for.
Please respond!! This problem is really bugging me!!
