many students use DC++ for the filesharing in a student flats LAN network.
As now ANts p2p has uPnP support, this connects direct to all nodes without a server, in a anonymous and a direct modus, so has any student tested this in a LAN ? or as Lancasting at a LAN-party ?
With UpnP all ANts node in a LAN network find each other without any delay and connect, searches are very advanced with lucene search method like goodle and transfer speed in direct modus is like torrent.
Has anyone compared it to dc++ in direct modus in a LAN ?

uPnP is for automatically opening ports so other clients elsewhere on the internet, not your local lan, can open connections to your client. uPnP only works if your NAt router supports it.
It does not do anything usfull if all your clients are on the same lan.

on the last lan party ants connected pretty good !
try it out to share files in direct way or indirect way, ants has both modi, ideal for a lan party or sharing over internet anonym and encrypted
