Some guy closes down MY halo multiplayer!!!

just played halo combat eveolved multiplayer.somebody got very nervous because he got killed couple times.i hate those bad losers!!
then he started talking about sinding a virus in my server.i didn t believed a word he sayd but.there was a message 4, 3 , 2 1 or something .. and there you go.i got some kind of errorscreen ,something about buffering.
also told me he can send police after me (something about kidporn).
can you guys believe this!!!!!!
is the any protection against him when he shuts down my game.

Yes, a firewall should do the trick. I assume you didnt accept any files from him/her right?

he can log the ip address through his pc network and such. but he has no proof of anything on your pc.

no no guys,it s like that, let me tell you.he shut me down when ever he wanted
to lifehacker;no i didn t get any files,this buffer thing happened always after he sayd to me everything he wanted to say,even counted numbers like 3..2 1 and instead of a game i see some windows errormessage

picture this guys-some no good player,his getting killed a lot and give him such power like shutting down other peoples games -god help us all ;)

I remember when Sega Dreamcast went live and they forgot all about game shark. It was so much fun shutting people down, destroying their level 100 characters and such. Fun! "here, wear this armor, it will give you level 100+ health" they would put it on and it would be hacked to be level -100 health! lol they couldnt start the game without dying! Bu bye character! CK

it was something like buffer overrun.at least i think it was.
i saw this message about 30 times.my server was closed down by some punk for 30 times.

Yes its very likely a buffer overflow. I would reccomend a firewall such as Lock n' Stop or Outpost.

Quit playing with him. I think if you mess with the game on one side, it could send data to your game for things to happen .. Google it, people are probably talking about doing it in the forums. See how they do it.

i m lucky that this haven t seen this guy lately in multiplayer,the punk sayd that something like from now on i m gonna get some extra (how is it in english)attention or treatment.
it s been quiet for some time now,i hope it stays that way
i dont want to use firewall just yet,because its gonna be one more exta item in startup,i might no see him

Ok its 2 years later.

I just got hit from the same thing. What the guy did is called a Halo Boom or Halo Loop. It crashes the hosts Halo Game.

As for the child porn, he said the same thing to me. I don't think anything happened though.

But just to be on the safe side if you get this message let me know if anything serious came of this.
