Ok I would like to create my own tracker for posting torrent links to My personal stuff.
I've read that I need a Web Server? Can I run one off a XP Pro box?
and how do I set up MYSQL for it

I guess I am trying to say how do I make a private site running off a home PC?

You need to use ISS which is a windows webserver. However XP Pro ISS will only accept up to 10 connections at once, which I think renders it useless for a tracker, but I might be wrong.

Why not just use the built in tracker that comes with uTorrent or Azureus?

Your tracker address would be http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:6996/announce where the xxx are your IP address.

First, it's IIS.

Second, rather than hack around trying to increase the connection limit, why not install Apache for windows? It's free.

In fact, there are packages available for windows that will install php/mysql/apache magically. I think one might be called XAMPP. Maybe another one called WAMP.

EDIT: I like Auggie's idea better than trying to get a full blown web server working.

Remember if you make it private for your friends. Others on here will condem you and call you a cheat, and say your logging IP addresses and could be a untrusty person.

I used uTorrent. I made the torrent with my ip address to announce, and passed out torrents to friends. I was trying to get stuff going like that for our Private community yet some didnt want the movie and end up just one person did want it. So I stopped trying that all together. Just let people post on what they want or req. And then try to upload it them.
