Lets say i've started downloading a torrent with BitTorrent, but now i want to continue downloading it with uTorrent without losing any of the data i've already downloaded, is there anyway to do this?

Yes. Go to File and click on add torrent (no default save). Then choose the .torrent file and where it has been saved before (and where it was downloading with whatever other client you were using).

I would recommend finishing it up, and then starting fresh. I have seen some clients not recognize the partial data, and if your at 80percent, it will go down to 50 or so complete. I have switched clients and experienced it.

That happened to me once too.

in theory it's possible but highly dependant on how the applications store data as it is downloaded. i would NOT reocmmend doing this unless you ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO

If BitTorrent adds on the .bt or .bc extension on the partial files (I know BitSpirit and BitComet do) make sure to delete the .bt or .bc off the end of the files so uTorrent will recognize them, otherwise it create all new files.

on a similar note, I've been using Shareaza to download torrents, but I was wondering in I can use another program to resume those downloads. I need to reinstall windows and I have a 15gb file that is 80% finished. I would wait till the transfer is finished before I reinstall, but my pc is hanging way too much, and i'm getting a lot of dropped frames when I capture video from my dv camera. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated

Not with Shreaza. I suggest you finish downloading with Shareaza and then switch to a better BT client such as uTorrent.
