ISP using X-Stop

Well hey everyone I am new to the boards the current reason would be because my current ISP is filtering P2P with a server/software called X-Stop. I have done some reading on this current Application but have not found any ways of maybe getting around this. It does not matter what current Application I use in tring to get on a P2P network sometimes it will let me connect but only pull 1 Kb/s on anything I currently try and download other times it will not even connect to the network. I have tried a few differnt things on getting around the problem changing ports and setting up a SSH and tunneling P2P's thru the SSH but still no luck. My current speeds are 1.5Mb down and 800K up. If anyone has some info on this I would be very greatful. I hope I posted in the right place on the forum.

I didn't think it blocks p2p, only web sites, and apparently it's expanded to ftp and usenet. If it also blocks p2p then you have no choice but to get another ISP if one's available. Try using different ports for p2p, it doesn't mention throttling those programs totally. It sounds like you live in the bible belt for an isp to use that kind of program; of course I'm assuming it's your home and not a work or school computer.

If you want to use bit torrent, try using,
http://www.utorrent.com
latest version with encryption outbound set to force, and uncheck allow legacy incomming connections. You'll get way less peers, but that may or may not work for you. I don't know about this ISP-nousence, but if posible, you may want to switch to another cable/dsl/sattlelight provider.
if you want a single file p2p, try
http://www.bearshare.com/lite
no crap in this
with secure channels mode enabled[it's barried in options somewhere in that prog] Again, you'll get less results, but that may also work for you. Good luck!

WOO HOO....Utorrent 1.5 is the trick nothing else works period.... now if I only do this at night I should not be caught because it is a little ISP located in a town of like 200 people.. there is no one there at night ... I would say who it is but they are small and if they know I found a way around DL torrents they would cut me off for sure.

If you live in a town of only 200 people it shouldnt be too hard to find the guy and slip him a few bucks for a better connection. What im thinking however is that he needs to rend alot of bandwith off other companies and simply cant afford to bandwith of filesharing.

YEah, 200 people. I can see where broadband usage is an issue and there are shortages.. Maybe 10 percent use it and maybe 1-2 people use it for downloading pirated or non pirated material.

Meh in a small town you have to eat whats served at the table, as for his sudden jubilance.

It appears he has discovered the Azureus and uTorrent secret encrypted handshake.
Both have been chewing through the Ellacoya shaping shaw and rogers uses.

It has been almost a year and a half since I saw any real speeds off of BT

glad you got it working , yes utorrent 1.5 ftw, they shoud make everyone who does bt use that or az.... whatever its called and have the encryption have to be enabled. for reasons like this and its safer for all

Its not safer, its away of getting past isp throttling.. You still can get logged by mpaa and riaa.

They would have to shot me 1st.. there is no way in hell they are dragging 6'2" 275lbs man to the town square.
I have my Terms of Service right next to me and I willl scan it and let ya all take a peak with the ISP name crossed out of course. I did notice though if a ISP is filtering your line should they put that in the Terms of Service? I mean I know if I ran a ISP I would put that in because of lawsuit reasons.
