I have been having the strangest problem when trying to boot up a computer. I first ran sfc /scannow with the restore disk in the drive....only to find that when I tried to log back in under one of the many names at the bootup screen - it asks me if I want to enter the product key, if you say yes or no, it goes to load then it automatically logs me out...you could call it a loop.

I've tried different nicknames and even safe mode...only to find it has locked me out of there too :( The only tool I have at my disposal is the recovery module and I've tried the chkdsk and bootfix commands to no avail...a bunch of searches on google didn't help either!

I thought since you guys have helped me in the past with difficult questions you could probably help me again :) I would erase it and start over again but I've got some online term papers on there!

Use the Winternals All in One CD to boot in to XP, then copy what you want off the drive to another drive or burn to CD.

You MIGHT be able to use the Locksmith in that CD, but it doesnt always work with XP HOME.
