By any chance did you even try to look at HP's site?
here? (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?dlc=en&lc=en&product=1155964&lang=en&cc=us&os=228)

Yep
Do you no longer have the software that came with the computer? [recovery disks]

hp pavilion sounds like a PC.
If i'm right it had a recovery cd and finding the driver for the components will be nasty. Even opening the case to find out what parts are used might not help.
The drivers for the computer system are on the recovery cd(s).
Here is the link on the hp website for your PC.

Good grief.
Here's the thing. If he has XP loaded then all of those things should be supported by XP. The only things he may need are specialized drivers and in that case the link I offered in my first reply should give them. If in fact he says he is missing some, I just would like him to detail what he's missing.

Do I detect a hint of frustration by the posters in this thread?

there should be 2 drives on ur hp. c and d wen u boot ur computer press f or f10 for recovery partion (which is the d drive) the recovery cds are actually stored into your computer. so wen u boot choose recvoery and go on from there

Will this wipe out what he currently has on his C: drive?

Most of HP parts are generic & Brand Name products.
So what drivers or what do you need.
If you don't know what brand products you have you can use a system Info Utility.

not all. it wipes out stuff in adminstrative files. anything in program files will stay, but its better than nothing he could back his files up first
