moneoa thought of the idea to create a poll on games that we should all play together, So I decided to make a poll.

The choices are as follows:

Wolfenstein Enemy Territory
Unreal tournament 2004
Steam game including counter strike, day of defeat, etc.(if so please post which game)
Call of Duty 2
other (please post)

I only have room for 5 options so no complaining!

I would say unreal turnament because its the only one i own although it would be ideal to go to a free game but im not sure what free fps is good.

I'm not down with any of those. I would roll with COD2 if it's on a private server. If not.. well, I guess what I'm saying is COD2 would be the only one I'd bring myself to go buy if it was determined to be the game.

You know I've been fanboying Wolfenstein ET.

While you put up the whole steam game reference, Xfire does support a nice ration of games as well. There are probably other programs out there that do the same, but I can't speak on those as I haven't tried them. It is nice to see your buddies on line and be able to click to launch the game into the same server though.

I think ET is based off of the Half-life engine, and it is a relatively small DL.

I might have put AA up there, but the huge DL plus the pain in the ass training detract from the plug n play idea.

I put my Xfire SN up in the gamers unite thread, and if it doesn't come up, feel free to PM me for F/L name to bring it up.

Wolfenstein Enemy Territory should probably be the game with go with since its free and doesn't seem that bad at all. I would pick COD2 as the retail game because its truely kick ass but some poeple may have trouble running it. I would dust off my UT2004 Cds but the last one is cracked, I never liked it much anyway.

I hate Halo.

I wanna play, let me know when the decision makers reach a decision, and then i'll have to acquire it. It doesn't matter what really, as long as it's kickass. The CS, Halo, COD, even something star wars, or flight simulation... let me know.

We're not going to have to have invest for connecting are we?
Or "invest" in our choice of game? Or is that the best course?

Which Wolfenstein are we talking about?

The Hunter

The only one I ever saw was a maze type game that went on almost forever. It was called "Castle Wolfenstein", and was about hunting germans during the war.

I played Return to castle wolfenstein a loooong time ago. It started off really well but then it got into the Nazis making zombies that would kill everyone, and from there the game got really bad.

The Hunter
March 1st, 2006, 07:37 PM
Thats the one. Now that brings back memories, bad ones of entering code for many days to try a game that totally sucked. We wont even get into goonies.

moneoa the last time i played that was on the C64. im going to have to get a copy.Hunter you should try to track down the expansion, spear of destiny as it was considered better than the actual game itself. (don't get me wrong, both were good.)

There was just something endearing about capping an SS soldier in the face.
Who can forget uber strong hitler in the power armour....

My fave was hand to hand with those stupid attack dogs.

Doom was awesome for its time too

(Return to Castle Wolfenstien is different from the c64 version we are talking about)

SanDiegoKid

No no nooooo.... and it goes a'lil somethin' like this..

Castle Wolfenstein (C=64, Atari 800)

Wolfenstein 3D
-Spear of destiny

Return to Castle Wolfenstein
- Enemy Territory

.. and I remember Goonies on the C=64. It had a Cindy Lauper Song, which was kind of novel at the time. I don't think it was as fun as Spy Vs. Spy though.

Excrement_Cranium

Aye.

Returnt to Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory seems to be garnering interest. I played the other night, and someone had made a Minas Tirith map for it that was pretty nuts.

Here's a Cnet DL link:

Enemy Territory (http://www.download.com/Return-to-Castle-Wolfenstein-Enemy-Territory-full-install-/3000-7565_4-10243511.html?tag=lst-0-1)

No zombies though, guys. It's more of a WWII based combat, though the base game isn't "realistic" it fast, frantic, and fun.

Edit: as a sidenote, after my lovely involuntary reformat, I can't recover my old Xfire SN, so I'll post the new one when I get off my ass and get one.

keygens better work on whatever game you end up with. for unreal i only have unreal gold, unreal 2, and unreal tournament GOTY as legit, cause i cant find my copy of 2k4.

if the server isnt gonna be patched or accept keygen'd keys, ill have to vote Wolf:ET and take back my vote for UT2004.

March 2nd, 2006, 08:45 PM
I'd prefer to use a keygen'd copy or patch acceptable. If possible.

Just tried running wolf et to see what it was like and for some reason its lagging like crazy on my system. Il have to figure out why, I also agree the graphics suck but that just allows more people the abilitie to run the game. Just a thought theres alot of linux users on these forums maybe we should look into a win/linux compatible game. I know unreal is linux compatible.

Heres another mention scortched 3d, fanmade 3d version of scortched earth

I wont run a key gen copy of any game. I don't believe in ripping off the video game industry. Thats just my preference.

I don't think this will ever happen anyways. Too much talk and no action. I'm off to play my legit COD2

Excrement_Cranium

I had a similar buggy install with ET this last time. It wasn't buggy before, but now the graphics flip out, and it lags madly when people use the airstrike heavily.... hmmmm...

Anyway, the least peeps can do is link up on the communication programs steam, xfire, ventrillo, so that we can think about some gaming.

I'm always open to new games, if they cost 20 bucks.

excrement cranium: I tried adding your name on xfire but you never accepted. so can you make your new name or at least just accept my invite? thanks :)

btw, I have a computer that is sitting here waiting to be a server. That's all it's doing. Once we decide the game I will try to get a linux server up and running :)

The thing I don't like about games like unreal is you can not really hide. In the end it is about who shoots first and who has the biggest gun. I use to play a really cool game called Line of Sight Vietnam. The cool thing about it is you can use the bushes and trees to hide in. Real jungle warfare. The most useless weapons in that type of camafloge warefare become the big guns that give away your position. The best weapon becomes the snipers rifle. One shot, one kill, is the best stratagy. Two succesive shots will give away your position to other snipers. The nice thing about that game is that it does not require a valid cd key for online play. You you download and play. You can host your own internet games that other people can join. The successive game is Elite Warriors. There was a game beforethat called pacific... something. If anyone is interested I will look it up. You can edit the maps to create new battlefields to play on. I have about a dozen new maps if anyone is interested.

March 3rd, 2006, 12:31 PM
I just reinstalled Elite warriors. I did not see any active server. I also reinstalled LOS Vietnam. That one is still active. I am playing mulitplayer on it. Like it said, No CD key whatsoever. As far as I know it is the only mulitplayer out there that curently does not require a cd key.

I have a whole bunch of original maps too maps too that i can share. So i think we would get a lot of play out of that one. Even if you are against a pirate version you can get the game of less then $20. Its been out a while.

I have not played wolf ET since it was released. I found it pretty good.

Halo deathmatch was good.

CS source i find too slow/boring.

Half Life 2 Deathmatch is the online game i play the most.

I got my images here: http://enemy-territory.4players.de:1041/modules.php?name=Image_Gallery and they look incredible, guess those arent the real images since you people are saying the graphics suck. The images there do look too good to be true but it says Wolfenstein enemy territory so I thought they were from the game.

This wil be the game to end all games till the next game comes along. MY mouth is still hanging open

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars (PC)

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars pits the armies of Earth against the invading alien Strogg in an online strategic shooter. Players choose to battle as one of five unique classes in either the EDF (Earth Defense Force -- humans) or the barbaric alien Strogg armies. Troops use 40+ conventional and futuristic vehicles, deployable structures, and defense systems like quad-bikes, tanks, and alien walkers for epic ground assaults; or helicopters and anti-gravity ships to lend firepower from the air. Throughout each battle, teams establish bases, deploy defense structures, artillery, radar, and advanced forward-command systems into enemy territory while constructing and demolishing obstacles to speed progress and gain a tactical advantage over the enemy.

I have never used xfire but my mic is currently not in good working order. I tried to use it a few eeks ago and no one could hear me. I'll have to get a new set.

By the time Enemy Territory: Quake Wars comes out, we must have a team in place. This Halo type super mod looks like the end all, be all of video games. I've never seen any game look this good. The theme is also KICK ASS! I just wonder are the aliens bots, which wouldnt be a bad thing, and if this will be a pay to play type deal. If its pay to play it might be the first I actually end up paying for game time. I've had a boner every since I watched the movie of it. This is the game that will make game players buy new PC's and video cards. I just hope my 5 month old card will hold up well for it. If not, screw it, I'll get a new one!

Excrement_Cranium
March 3rd, 2006, 10:47 PM
I don't have a mic for my comp anyway. Xfire just helps you link up. If one of your "freinds" is signed in, and playing a supported game, you can text over the game back and forth. Not to mention you can click to launch that game into the server your friend is in. That is the main reason I suggested Xfire as a link up program.

I run ET with the settings at "fastest."

Most of the time it runs perfect, except once in a while when there are a lot of people w/ slow connections playing coupled with 10 billion air strikes. Makes the game crawl.

Though, I've been moving into more custom style matches, and checking out people's mods n maps.... but base game play is always fun.

I dunno, it's the right price, my system runs it clean, and there are lots of people playing. Easy to pick up...
