Hi,

I'm sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong thread.

I've been downloading a file via torrent, and all files worked up until about the 9th file. The problem being that I'm unable to play the video in my player it shows the error message "Unable to Render File".

I'm currently using realalternative with windows media player classic, I've also tried to run the file with the original Real player but no luck there either.

Any idea if the file is fixable or just bogus? I also tried to fix the file with a program named Video Fixer, and no luck fixing it.

Thanks in advance, much appreciated.

Please never mention a title here, click the EDIT button and take that out

Secondly, never say the R word, or mention Real Media, they suck monkey balls

Done, not really my choice of format. Just what the video came as.

Unable to Render File

And that's probably absolutely true

You cant render it

It may not be renderable

Theres a lot of crap on BT, and files also get damaged due to fragmentation, and problems caused by the software used to download. Defrag them, try to move them to a different HD if you have one installed.

Try downloading one of them again, and try to play one you cant render on another machine altogether, this will serve as a better litmus test to determine if it's your codecs or file accociations, or they are damaged files.

Try opening it with jetaudio. If that doesn't play it nothing will.It sometimes opens .rm and .rmvb files nothing else will.I don't know why, it just does. Best player out there and nothing else is even remotely close.VLC is a distant second.
