Norton disabled me.
I am tossed between reverting to 2005, or bitdefender 8 professional or possibly NOD32. I just hate uninstalling it, rebooting, cleaning out the registries, and redoing it. It takes away my movie making time =(

I don't have a firewall (I just rely on my router's NAT :/) and just an ondemand AV (clamAV, not the best one...
Not the best thing to do but I don't want any resource pumping software on my machine :)
I used to have look'n stop, kerio 2.1.5 and jetico v1 (not at the same time :) ). They were very good but they had their own problems... bah

On my personal computer, I don't use any type of security. (Aside from my router's NAT, I'm naked). It's partially because I had been using a six-and-a-half year old computer as of two months ago, and it goes without saying how much an anti-virus would slow it down. That, and the fact that the last AV I purchased a license for was Norton, which seemed to cause more headaches than solved problems.
If I ever feel the need to run a check-up, AVG Anti-Virus, AVG Anti-Spyware, and Spybot usually catch any problem I'm having.

I have Webroot Spysweeper and avast running.
Although I like to leave a note sometimes by my comp when I'm away saying,
"If you touch this computer, you will get the AIDS"
It sure worked to keep my little cousins away! :D

I use these:
Microcom router (with NAT firewall)
Zonealarm security suite(realtime)
Webroot SpySweeper(realtime)
AVG antivirus(not realtime)
SpywareDoctor(not realtime)
Ad-aware(not realtime)
I keep my pc very clean with these, but I think it depends much on what websites you are visiting

Zone Alarm
kaspersky
pest patrol
Xsoft
And on Linux
I use firestarter when using an unprotected or preshly installed box for short periods or during updates.
But under normal circumstances I just manually hammer out iptable rules after surveying my environment carefully. that way the protection is bare metal and does its job with devastaring accuracy.

if i'm using a wireless router which has a built in firewall do i need to have a firewall installed on my computer as well.
I currently have a router firewall and Comodo firewall installed but would turn this off if it's not needed.

I mostly use Linux and don't use any anti-virus, spyware protection, or even fire-wall other than firewall on my router. I've never encountered any virus or spyware or any other annoying thing. All the sotware I use are open source pretty much and free.
