Sony may be getting away with it vis-à-vis camcorders and burners, but Hollywood isn't allowing Samsung to make DVD players which allegedly allow users to, "avoid encryption features that prevent unauthorized duplication," says the Korea Times, quoting Bloomberg News.

Over the weekend, Bloomberg reported Walt Disney, Time Warner and three other major film makers, "filed the lawsuit against Samsung in U.S. court," says the story, going on:

"In response, Samsung refused to confirm the high-profile suit that involves Paramount Pictures, 20th Century Fox and Universal Studios on top of Disney and Time Warner. besides macrovison, what copy protections can a dvd player support? its not like you can hook it up to your pc and use it as a ripper. and macrovicon just plain blows as a protection

i guess they have to find a way to make up for this years list of crappy actors that they pay high budgets to star in there poorly scripted movies ......... maybe they will use that money and turn around and hire someone from the SunDance Fest and then they wont have to find ways to make up there losses

Strange. Theyre suing Samsung but not Slysoft (AnyDvd), Alcohol 120, Daemon Tools, BlindWrite, GameJack, etc which far more people use to break protections than a Samsung Dvd player.
