a wierd thing happened tonight. The bear was running great, and then all downloads stopped. The uploads are working fine. I changed nothing, and ares works fine. I tried both the lite and pro version of the bear, with no difference.

I've seen that before Hunter, cant recall what the deal was, but do the usual, reboot, restart the prog etc.

Might reset the router or modem too.

Let me know what you find out.

Already done a full reboot, cold start of modum, after a 15 min shutdown. I will try again in the AM, and see if it gets its bear shit together.

You dont need to wait 15 minutes, the packet fairies dont need smoke breaks.

As I recall whatever the problem was worked itself out, I havent ran BearShare in months now tho, not loaded on my system.

LOL, I unplugged the modum, and became otherwise indesposed, so the 15 min is an estimate. Anyway it was shutdown for a while.

Very strange! Im glad to see you using the bear but it sucks to have such trouble. Even so, I have found the bear to be a great app

can it hop servers or some shit? Its a freakin bear, it needs to go attack the wild. =) It wouldnt suprise me if the server/person you connect to is no longer connected to the other part of the network. OR with updated programs, some do ban other clients on the network.

Things like this is why I changed over to different part of filesharing. Having more control over apps and not have to worry if im getting full speed or my partials will stay partial. BT and usenet gave me the end result i was lookin for.

Heres pic of BT, Pic of usenet in the background.

Ive been using it for quite a while with fantastic results until last night. Everything was fine, and then my single download stopped. I tried different searches with lots of results, but not one download would start.

But those programs seem so cold and unlike filesharing. I dunno, I just like networks. Its not really about the speed for me, its the feel of community. Downloading things from websites is so boring. I wish the good old days would return. Its good to have the option of such things as BT but tis just taken all the fun out of it.

When I download I usually run two apps at a time anyway

BearShare gives me the best results from the Gnutella network but that might be coming to an end.

Something is obviously fishy as I had been downloading fine, and it died like the flip of a switch.

I've upgraded to latest and downloads and uploads are working as expected. 5.2.1 I believe.

Bearshare is a gnutella client, and didn't rely on ed2k servers.
