After having loads of problems with winmx3.1 and other p2ps I decided to try using IRC as a quick way of getting films. After about 5 hours of trying to get one film off of multiple users I gave up. Can anyone shed a bit of light on how to download off a user once on their channel? The "get" command kept saying syntax error!

you have to get into the directory by using the cd command then use the get command then you should be able to dl. also try ftp

what problems? If you can't get "hold my hand" p2p programmes to work then more advanced IRC may not be the best option.

my only advise to you is that if you have problems with p2p apps then you're not going to like using fserves on irc, and if you don't have buddies in the channels then you won't have much choice either..... Depending what you meant by problems I'd suggest using direct connect if you know what hubs to use (sadly most of the good ones no longer list themselves on the public lists due to the amount of cheating going on).

If you really want movies and have spare time then stick with irc and get to know some of the people, once you're "in" with the right crowd you can't find a better place to find movies or anything for that matter :)
