I downloaded Ontrack's System Suite 4 on Kazaa last week and thus far have been completely satisifed with it. It has a wider, more powerful array of utilities than Norton SystemWorks 2002. But when I downloaded Ontrack, it disabled my Norton Systemworks antivirus tab. I can no longer scan for viruses using Norton. So I uninstalled the virus portion of Ontrack and unchecked the email scan box within it. That still did not help. I'd rather have Norton scan viruses for me becuase it has been very reliable in the past and it has shown great marks. Is there a way that I can get Norton virus scan back without reinstalling Norton? And, if any of you have had experience with each, which virus scan is better IYO? Should I not worry about it and just use Ontrack's? The rest of Norton SystemWorks seems to be working fine. Ontrack seems to do a great job but I would just prefer Norton to handle my virus scans. As for background information, I am running an AMD Athlong 1.3 GHZ on Win XP. I have an HP Pavilion 7935 (would not have been my first choice but I got it for Christmas...hehe). :bk

ontrack system suite myself (just disable the firewall on install, it is garbage imho) and norton antivirus corporate edition. it has (had?, I have not checked out nav2003) more options than the regular version, such as the ability to specify how deep you want it to scan into compressed files... how many layers deep I mean, it will do that for self extracting exes as well. additionally, ontrack did not suspend it when I installed system suite.
personally, I find ontrack much better than norton, and I like the small corporation approach, they seem entirely professional and also seem to have more virus updates (for what that is worth) then norton does. alternatively, if you do not want the huge package system suite offers, ontrack fix- it utilities is a great prog for keeping the old pc running optimally.

Im downloading Ontrack System Suite at the moment but everyone keeps saying that the firewall is shit, what is actually wrong with it. I want a firewall for extra security, but im not sure (i dont know much about this) does a firewall effect my use of p2p progs at all. Do you think I really need a firewall and if so what one should I get.

You can actually uncheck the virus protection software that comes with On track , you can also uncheck the firewall. You then have only the utilities & can use Norton & ZA if you wish. I myself have no qualms with the Sygate firewall which is included with OnTrack. It is much better than the Norton firewall & has just been updated. The professional version is the one to get. Actually it will let you commect to Blubster & ZA will not at this time (Blubster 2.o) So Just uncheck the two at the time of installation & you should have no problems. The Norton Anti virus is far higher rated than the one that comes with Ontrack. I have bith Norton Systemworks & Ontrack on my computer & they both work fine together.

Zone Alarm Pro is a BAD BAD BAD application, for me anyways. It would restart my computer when I would log on the internet and hogged system resources like crazy.
I have had bad experiences with ZA, but you may not.

x71us, I did uncheck the virus and firewall features of Ontrack. That is my point...I dont know what happened to my Norton Antivirus and I want to use that for virus scanning. I still have not been able to solve this problem. I love Ontrack for everything else, mainly because it is easy to use and it does a great job of defragging, cleaning up internet tracks, and cleaning up useless and cluttered files, especially in the registry. My CPU speed has increased dramatically and it is very safe to use, does not get rid of important system files like System Mechanic would sometimes do. I think Ontrack is one of those must have utilities. And TFos_Fan, if you are looking for a free firewall, Tiny Personal Firewall is one of the best on the market now. It works great and is easy to use. You can reand and consider downloading it here: http://download.com.com/3000-2092-6313778.html?tag=lst-1-4 Hope that helped....now if only I can get Norton Antivirus to work LOL :fire

Ontrack System Suite is just fine piece of product (and so cheap too) at FastTrac's. It beats FIU4, ZAPRO and many others, that just sucks when blocking traffic, that is neede at P2P. I Prefer allways the new (good) products.
By The Way : Hello all of You at Zero Paid, This is a great forum / news site. I have read these posts, comments and opinions / criticism for some months and have now decided to come with you and talk with you (reading all alone is quite a boring)
Mostly I am satisfied, what I have read, but have seen that some kids are all the time trying to spoil your good work by putting nonsense spamming with bad language between almost every thread here. They seem to come here just to be some Guru-Gods, knowing everything and letting it out that You know nothing - that must hurt sometimes!
So, happy to be here and sen my second post (how many do I have to send before I get my n00b thing off. I am really not a newbie, because I have been evolved with computers for many years by my job and as a hobby. And of cource I do Love Music (and those other things they offer us for free, as good apps)

I tested some things myself, I got the most up to date virus definitions for Norton and Ontrack on a spare WinXP comp I have, and then put a not well know "Panther" virus on it, as well as I-Love-U, and Klez, and then barely running stable ran a virus scan on Ontrack, it detected I-Love-U but couldnt repair it, and found Klez and repaired, and did not detect Panther.
As with Norton, It detected all three put I-Love-U in quarentine and deleted it, removed Klez automatically, and automatically removed the small Panther virus.
Im sticking with Norton

Hawkburn: you like to live dangerously but I'm not surprised by the results. We just got an Email with the BugBear virus attached & Norton found it & stopped it. It only could quarrintine it. I then used GoBack & got rid of it. Funny I get the BugBear from an Email & not from peer to peer. I then went to Jason Levines site & down loaded script sentry so now I have two forms of scrip protection. By the way I found some indications that someone was trying to use the update server of Norton 2003 Systemworks to try to connect computers into some sort of a game server. Anyone else notice this or am I just over paranoid. Anyway I started to use Sygate 7 blocked the site/

i upgraded to norton systems works 2003 professional yesterday and only loaded in NAV.
i tend to stick with norton because they have a easy to use system and they tend to have more ppl getting updates for you cracking viruses etc (more ppl, working cause they are a big company) also, after reading Hawkburn's test i'm convinced!
so now i'm using:
NSW2003Pro (only NAV installed)
Zone Alarm Pro
and everything is working great and i'm happy! but i am seriously thinking of getting Sygate Personal Firewall.
