Is there a linux thing for windows that is a bit like WINE? Because I want to try out linux without getting rid of XP so I was wondering if anyone knew of a linux emulator. thanx in advance

the easiest thing to do would probably be to set up a dual boot system.

How about VMware (http://www.vmware.com/) ? You'd actually need to install the linux in windows which might use alot of ram and it's a trialware.
or you can try LINE (http://line.sourceforge.net/) which is something like Wine.

Lindows can't run windows prog's any better than a regular linux distro with a wine installed can, wine is still alpha-quality software so emulating is a very risky thing. and I believe there is something called lin4win, try searching for that..

Check out "Phat Linux" an "Winlinux"

If your totally knew to linux go with Winlinux. You can install it from windows an start it from windows as well. Problem is it's shareware.

Same with Phat linux but it's not nagging.

Phat linux on the other hand is a bit harder to install an work with....

Fuck LOL PhatLinux has gone from freely downloadable no nag ware to you can only buy it on CD oh well..... heres the link http://www.phatlinux.com/index.php

http://www.winlinux.net/2003/download2.html

They still offer it.....it's BIG an you have to be connected to the net when you install it because it needs to reg. itself.
Very easy an clean though, worth the trouble

Peace all, Later
