Who fucking cares, go find someone stuck in the 80s that remembers what the hell a dial up modem is, and try to educate YOURSELF about POTS and line quality . . maybe learn Sanskrit while youre at it.

First of all, don't complain about dial-up disconnections, especially with downloads, that's inevitable. I really suggest you get broadband.
I assume your talking about with your downloads. Well for general HTTP downloads I suggest you use Download Accelerator Plus because when you downloading and your get disconnections, it automatically reconnects for you and you can set it to disconnect after your download completes.

The modem disconnects all the time no matter what I'm doing. Like the another computer really hates mine is trying to keep me quiet. Well yes I'm downloading, that's the idea of a modem isn't it?

No, your phone line charging you for slow, max 5KB/s speeds, constant disconnections and about 3 cent a minute is a waste.
Alwus on, flat rate and quick broadband for around $15 a month with no disconnections is brilliant.

Listen to the line. Do you hear noise or crackling?
Unplug all phones, fax's, TV boxs and extensions. Connect your modem directly to the main socket. Does that give an improvement?

Is it disconnecting while SURFING THe web or downloading music and such? Because if you get a phone call, it can disconnect you from the internet, or may have to turn off call waiting.
Who is your ISP provider and how much are you spending a month on it? You may get disconnections on the prime time or if you idle long too without transmiting data.
If you can get broadband, urge you to do it. I have DSL Pro package at 24.95 a month and download at 3 megs. Thats like 5-6 movies a day in transmissions.
