View Full Version : Others can't find my files on Kazaa/Swapper

I have been trying to share several files for a particular user to download (across the country.) My first file worked fine with Imesh but for some reason no others would work, after reading this site, I uninstalled all that Spyware crap and cleaned the system and loaded Kazaa Lite (love it) and Swapper.net. I have put my files in the shared directory and have several other files in there as well. When I search from another computer, the files are not found same result when my friend searches. I have also tried mIRC/ICQ/Messenger/Yahoo Messenger but his firewall is preventing the download, we also have tried IP forwarding (6891-6900) and a DMZ to no avail. I also tried The Bridge (found it here) but it keeps erroring on some kind of handle exception error. (yes I have .NET loaded...for Swapper.)
What is a reasonable time for files to appear shared on Kazaa?
Is there a minimum number of files I should be sharing?
Is there a configuration tweak I need?
Do you know of a better way to do this?
Thanks for this site, I just found it yesterday...Its great.

It all depends on the Node you connect to, you'll be lucky to ever find it.

ok... more than likely, youll never get in contact with him/her thru the kazaa network. but if you really want to use kazaa, theres actually a very simple way to do it. in your web browser, go to www.whatsmyipaddress.com , take that number that it gives you and put it in the place of xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx in this address: http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:1214 give that address (the one with the substituted number) to your friend. when you have kazaa on, and atleast one slot open, your friend should be able to get a full list of files you are sharing.

Wonderboy, what do you mean about having one slot open? I've tried the same thing that you suggested and it works on my computer, as far as viewing my own files go, but when I had my friend did it to view my files, all he gets is a blank screen.
You know of any other ways he can see my files?
Thanks for helping out us greenhorns.

I'm pretty certain he means upload slot (slot for people to download off you) which you can configure in the kazaa options.
That ip trick is very clever wonderboy, but are you sure it works? I know it works to view your own stuff.
Remember when you open that persons ip in internet explorer have kazaa on, although I am still not sure it would work.
