i downloaded something and i go to run it and it is giving me a run time error .what should i do and how can i fix this

What are you downloading? What program are you using? Whats the error message?

and i have it in a folder on desk top and when i open it and go to it and double click it it pops up run time error

Maybe not enough RAM or memory to access it. It help if you post all the information you had at hand.
Operating system
Program
Ram, hard drive space..
And anything relevant.

windows xp ser pack 2 and im running a 2.8 ghs with 512 ram and and 80 gig hard drive and radion 9250 grffix card that is 256

a runtime error is ANYTHING bad that happens when a program is being run, it can be corrupt files,m incompatable files, not properly configured drivers, not properly configured programs, missing a required component, missing a required system library, running the wrong version of windows.

it could be anything at all
