Ok... Heres my problem.
To start off, I installed Windows 2000 (C:\).
Then I installed Windows XP Corperate on my other hard drive (E:\ at this time)
I then tried installing Arch Linux which I partitioned and reformatted my C:\ drive.
I then realized that I couldnt boot XP Corperate because my computer was running off the Win 2k Boot.ini file.
So I reinstalled Windows 2000 on the C:\ drive after reformatting once agian.
I still have the XP Corperate......
I then switched the jumpers to make my XP Corperate disk in the C:\ Drive and the Win 2k on the E:\ because the hard drive Windows XP is on is much larger than the Win2k Drive.
So now, XP is on the C:\ Drive
and Win 2k is on the E:\ Drive.
Im currently using WIn 2k and I cannot boot XP.
Heres my boot.ini file located in the C:\ (just C:\, not C:\Windows)
[boot loader]
timeout=20
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINNT
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect
They are both IDE harddrives on IDE(0) for the boot sequence....
I know if I change the default=
I wont be able to load any version of windows... unless I do it right.
Thats why Im asking here.....
What else do I have to add under Operating Systems to load XP Pro?
I doubt you need my system specs, so Ill just leave them out, if you do....
Just reply and ask for them.....
Thanks!

Add this under your current one...
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows XP" /fastdetect

This still confuses me....
ition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows XP" /fastdetect
\WINNT ?
Microsoft Windows XP ?
XP or XP Professional?
or XP Pro?

It's just the title it will appear in the boot menu (F8 if it doesn't load automatically).
Put it in, restart your computer and see what happen.

Ok... Thanks
I'll be right back :)
Back:
WIndows 2000 could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
<Windows 2000 Root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe
Reinstall a copy of the file.
Im gonna risk it and go from:
[boot loader]
timeout=20
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINNT
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect
To:
[boot loader]
timeout=20
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOW S
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect
Its all or nothing!
WOOOOT This is intense.....!~~!~~!
If it works, Ill reply back...
If it doesnt... Ill be back in a week or so!

Hmm.....
My computer only recognizes Win 2k.....
Even though I specified WINDOWS in default...
It doesnt load Win XP... or even try to...
All it knows is Win2k =/.
The
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Micro soft Windows XP" /fastdetect
Didnt work....
But the
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINNT="Microso ft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect
Worked....

Try these instead, don't be afraid to fill up the BOOT.ini but make note of the name...
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP1" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(2)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP2" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(0)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP3" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(0)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP4" /fastdetect
Whichever one works, make a note of it. My idea of a dual-boot involves some great third party application.
An old favourite of mine is a program called Acronis OS Selector. It's searches the computer for all known OS's, lists them for you to choose from before Windows loads. There's also a neat disk management section too. PM if you want the link for the full version...

I tried those suggestions of yours....
Still no luck =/
Acronis OS Selector didnt install for me....
Im guessing because of the problem Im having...
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Micro soft Windows XP1" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(2)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Micro soft Windows XP2" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(0)\WINDOWS="Micro soft Windows XP3" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(0)\WINDOWS="Micro soft Windows XP4" /fastdetect
All tried to load windows 2000...
Error giving theres a missing file.

Change the disk part to the value 1...
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Micro soft Windows XP1" /fastdetect
==========I
========= V
multi(0)disk(1)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Micro soft Windows XP1" /fastdetect

That was one of the ones I tried.....
Could it not be a boot.ini error?
multi(0)disk(1)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Windows XP Professional 1" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(1)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Windows XP Professional 2" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(1)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Windows XP Professional 3" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP1" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(2)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP2" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(0)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP3" /fastdetect

I decided to reinstall windows....
I checked my boot file... Heres what it looks like:
[boot loader]
timeout=5
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOW S
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINNT="Windows 2000" /fastdetect
From the older one:
[boot loader]
timeout=20
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINNT
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINNT="Microso ft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect
Anyways...
Thanks Auggie2k
