found this refreshing antidote to the ridiculous bloatware media players on offer these days.
called STP player (http://www.webattack.com/get/stpmp3.shtml) (SystemTrayPlayer) this dinky little mp3 player scans your hard drive for mp3, sits in the system tray, and is accessed through a right click menu.
it has an equalizer and playlist, comes in a single executable file and hardly takes up any system resources. not a replacement for an all round media player , but worth trying out.
