What do you people recommend as the best P2P for Dial-Up access?

It's a little hard to recommend one but I suggest a program that accesses the Gnutella network, it will be the quickest for you.

I suggest you give Bearshare (http://www.bearshare.com/) a try out or maybe Shareaza (http://shareaza.sourceforge.net/?id=). Both access Gnutella and Shareaza also connects to eDonkey.

Haha.... I have dial up and I use Shareaza and Ares. Both work as good as it can get with dial up. I even download a torrent now and then.

Logic says eMule because the only knock against it is the lack of speed, but for dialup it's good speed. The content is great, especially for larger files.

Newsgroups would be a good choice. You don't have to upload. If your newsserver has what you want it will start downloading immediatly and send to you as fast as dialup will go.

If your ISP don't provide access to binary newsgroups you might have to pay for a newsgroup service.

Emule is good but you will need to stay connected for a long time to get rare files.

Since speed is not an issue I would think emule would be best.

Anything with swarm downloading is what is needed for speeds. Bt has it, but your not gonna get a good ratio on private sites.

??How can you have 500 kb/s on dial up that is physically impossible!

Anyhoo... I used to have dial up until about 6 months ago, before that I would use torrent sites because they are generally more reliable. I also used edonkey, kazaa, bearshare back in the day and a 100 mb file took like a week due to lack of resources/ people not being on. My advice is to stick to bittorrent, other than that, limewire is good too.
