Arizona Public Service Company has shut down one of the reactors at Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station after the unit's main emergency cooling line began to shake violently.
They had already reduced operations to about one-third capacity ealrier in the week, but yesterday's vibrations rose to unacceptable levels.

It's believed that the new 800-ton steam generators and low-pressure turbines maybe the cause of the shaking.
The plant, which powers the homes of 4 million in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and California, has now shut down 12 times in the past two years.
