i;m running xp pro with sp2.i have a 2 wire dsl modem with a built in router.for the last two days, every 15 minutes to an hour my connection would breifly dissconnect(the broadband
link light would turn red).this would only happen for a few seconds, but of course thats all it took to stop all downloads.so i spent about 2 hours with sbcyahoo yesterday and they said my dsl connection was strong and it was my modem.so they walked me through all the steps of rebooting my modem.well, the dissconecting ha sstoppeddbut now my downloads(not just peer2peer,all downloads)are extremly slow and so is my web browsing.my modem is a 2wire 1070b-gateway and im wondering if there is a way i can completly disable it.i reset it to allow all applications but that didnt help at all.i want that sucker totally disabled, ill take my chances with the hackers,i just want my computer speed back to normal.ive reseackhed the matter and cant find a way to totally disable it.if theres anyone here who has suggestions or who could help i would be very grateful, thanks

I have 2wire with SBC also, just go to your browser type home at address bar to reset security defaults on their gateway. But, I also have my own ZoneAlarm firewall & NOD32 anti-virus programs to protect my computer. Windows XP with SP2 has built-in firewall security center as well, so you can just use that, but you need to configure that as well!

Most likely you need to open your ports up. portforwarding.com
