Cleaning out all these Processes!

Dell's these days especailly the m140 ARE PRELOADED WITH e978436298345283645287634 pieces of crapware.

Ive had this laptop for about a month (since Christmas) and I've removed all the junkI don't want but call me crazy, I think it's slow

Considering that my Desktop WinXP machine has fewer than 30 processes and i have 55-54 on this.

anyway to stop some unneed processes?

This is a relatively simple task to complete. Go into the start menu, and then click on "run." In this window you then type "msconfig," and then hit the enter key. When the "System Configuration Utility" appears on your screen click on the "Startup" tab. From there you have full control of what processes you want to load whenever you want to boot your computer. It will help alot, especially if your system is lacking memory.

Also be sure to install reputable antivirus and antispyware software. Run thorough scans with the software installed on your computer; make sure the definintions for each are up to date. Do all the basics too like disk checks, defragmentation, temp cleaning, etc. This even is guarnteed enhance your computers overall preformance. There are other techniques, but these are the main ones to having a well-tuned machine.

yep, my bro and friend just got a desktop and laptop, they load a ton of shit on there, and everyone probably ends up removing all of it just messing up the registry making dells looking slower than normal, then they probably recommened more ram, ha

i have a dell with stuff i added but it didnt come with all of that stuff

Black Viper had a very nice tutorial site, explaining in detail what processes were needed, and what ones could safely be shut down. Also, if you check the link I posted you can see his suggestions. It has always worked well for me, and many others.

yeah its a pain. Problem is that a lot of those procceses do not clearly spell out what they are. So its hard to pick out the junk that is in there from the important struff.

There's a program called The Ultimate Troubleshooter that makes suggestions about what to do with services .It's pretty good.It does not recognize everything.It helped me a lot when I first started using W2K.
